UK newbie saying hello *wave*

Hi and welcome — everyone begins at some point. This area has plenty to pick up, so go at your own pace, browse the threads, and don't hesitate to ask. I hope you come across helpful information here and have a good time along the way.

I’d been checking out reta pens since they look handy, but once I dug deeper into suppliers and that side of things, it seems like the usual route is to constitute the mix on your own.

So I’m after some guidance on that...

When it comes to the reta, how do I figure out how much bac to add? Will the supplier include instructions with the purchase?

TIA

Alright, I've spent the whole day reading up on this lol, and from what I can tell those pen sellers have to be raking it in...

SWIM is paying £160 for 40mg pens - that's a pen that lasts 4 months. But I've read that once you reconstruct these mixes they only stay good for 28 days, so I'm guessing the mixture loses potency after that point? And that's assuming it was mixed right around when it showed up (which I doubt).

Since then I've been checking out buying 15mg x 10 vials and doing the reconstruction on my own, seems easy enough.

For those with experience - does it make sense to just dose with insulin pens? I saw those reusable pen clickers you can buy - is there any upside? It just feels like a pain moving the mixture from the vial into the cartridge for the pen - is there actually a real advantage?

The only downside I can see with insulin needles is throwing away the needles.

If my numbers are off please tell me, because I want to get started and the calculations are making me doubt myself.

So I begin with 15mg x 1.5ml, which gives me a 10mg/ml mixture. My starting dose is 2.5mg, so that works out to 6 doses from my mixture - 6 weeks.

0.1ml equals 10 units on my syringe, so 2.5 is 25 units.

Is that basically the whole picture?

Still way, way cheaper than SWIM paying for prefilled pens.

Many people with grey experience move the mixed solution into a fresh sterile vial. I do that too, but I put it in a pen cartridge and then insert it into a reusable insulin pen. Since filtering is already part of my routine, it doesn't add any extra trouble. And having used kwikpen Mounjaro before, I go with a dilution that matches a branded dose. Every 0.6ml dose of branded Mounjaro equals 60 clicks on my pen. So I can calculate the number of clicks required for any dose. You'll find lots of threads about this if you search. No matter which approach you take, be certain about the maths. If you aren't, your digestive system won't go easy on you.
