I am on TRT but this is dumb. Testosterone has nothing to do with actual competence as a soldier

Theres already a lot of servicemembers on gear so why not just make it free if needed. Also bringing people back to baseline levels has been proven to help with cognitive functions, recovery, weight loss etc. If I can chose between a Low T vs a High T guy as my battle w/out knowing anything else about both of them, im taking the high T guy 10/10.

I am so tired. I read this as "tret coming to the US Army," and was like "Wait, are the enlisted people wrinkly? And are we upset about that? Or are they upset about that? Do they also have sunscreen? They really should, even if they aren't using tretinoin...."

I am of an unpopular opinion that if you are bad at your job because of your low T, you are still going to be bad at it at any T. I was low T for many years but that didn't stop me from finishing my education with flying colors.

It's undeniable that insurances make it difficult to get TRT because they use a deceptively wide range of "normal" T level to throttle T prescription but many men seem to think it will solve all their problem. It doesn't. I m still an obese man with a delightfully cranky temper.

That is true, but why not do something to help them improve even by 1%. Or maybe high t won't help them but at least they tried.

You said you finished your education with flying colors. Let me ask you now, if you could go back and have your T levels high while you were in class w/ or w/out TRT, wouldn't you prefer going through that phase with high T?

I got suma cum laude and got my BS with severe sleep apnea and ridiculous low T. Im doing my Masters now and im on TRT, and best believe I im gonna end up with the same end results as my bachelor's but with less stress.

......No ? because it wouldn't have changed the end result. But I am a weird one.

Anyways, if army gets one, so should all us peon men.

So youd rather crawl to the finish line rather than run to it. Gotcha.

The military is a highly demanding mental and physical job. TRT will 100% help soldiers who are suffering from low T. To say otherwise shows a fundamental lack of understanding of either the treatment or the job. I'm happy for you on completing your schooling with low T, but that is hardly the same as fighting wars lol.

Good. Testosterone levels continue to decline and this should help normalize treatment. Horseshit I had to go to a clinic in the first place because my PCP ‘treats within the insurance guidelines.’ If I were a combat soldier I’d damn well want the extra confidence and aggression beyond recovery and strength and endurance.

Women, can you imagine getting this kind of hormone screening and medical care? This kind of makes me ragey.

I really hope they do more for than women than just TRT.

Well I was able to finish school and do my job as an fat man, so you don't need a GLP1 or any peptide therapies and should just continue being an obese angry man. See how dumb that sounds?

I honestly cannot imagine how attempting to crank up the average aggression level of military personnel is going to make the army function better. I cannot think of any other reason to be doing this . Or is it really about optimising quality of life for those in military service? The vast majority of what goes on outside of major wars does not involve fighting where extra testosterone could conceivably be useful. An enormous amount of training and logistics and maintenance and just keeping things working day to day, where any extra aggression is just going to increase interpersonal conflicts rather than help. Not sure how many US military personnel there are ?a million ?more , but very few are at any one time going to be in or around an active conflict. Sounds to me more like a propaganda exercise rather than a genuinely useful medical or even military intervention.

My limited experience interacting with non US military persons was that they were extremely reluctant to disclose or discuss any psychological or psychiatric issues, lest anything said ended up being used against them, and the most problematic side effects of testosterone replacement are psychiatric or personality changes including increased aggression ( though usually at higher rather than replacement doses ) , so if problems occurred it might be hard to even talk about it.

As someone who can't even get her est patches through insurance right now because of the ongoing shortage, yeah this is my takeaway from this.

ngl I'm torn on this one. it could be a wonderful thing for low T personnel....it could also be a hornet's nest of unintended consequences if not managed properly.

oh and I wanna know the angle....like who is getting the contract for all of the testing? 🤔

Going to be a nightmare. Let’s pretend they have the wherewithal to do the testing alone. Imagine the attempt at administration, follow through, dosing…etc. the amount of stigma bs for the service members who test low from their peers is going to be outright awful. Just stupid

Come on people, they aren't giving them tren. It is medical replacement hormone therapy for hypogonadism. They are not blasting with superphysiological doses. It is a major quality of life improvement that alleviates many mental and physical health issues. TRT does not cause hyper-agressive wreckless behavior. That comes from blasting gear, not hormone replacement, there is a big difference.
