So my primary care provider did a quick A1C and cholesterol test in office. A1C went from 6 to 5.6. Total cholesterol 185 to 120. Triglycerides went up a little. From 303 to 313. This happened over two months. I had a “Natures Bakery” brownie at 12am last night and did labs at 9am this morning. I’m on Reta and CJC/IPA. I skipped CJC/IPA last night and this morning. I have a theory on why this happened, but I am inquiring to see if this may have happened to anyone else? Liver releasing fats into bloodstream? Reta still got a chokehold on that brownie from last night? Would love to hear any input.

I have a rule for better sleep: if it doesn't worry my doctor, it doesn't worry me.

My TAG levels have gone up by ~100 with Tirz (250).

My hypothesis is that my visceral fat is decreasing. We'll see what happens when there's none left. 🙂

Refined sugar and carbohydrate are high up on the list of causes. No supplement can fix a bad diet. A single sugary snack isn't going to raise triglycerides by a lot, its more of a over time gradual thing.

If you don't take fish oil maybe you should try it, it can help lower triglycerides. 2 to 4g daily but remember at over 2g daily it also has blood thinning effect. Omega 3 increase Lipoprotein Lipase (LPL) activity which is impaired in people with diabetes.

My triglycerides dropped form 125 to 86 by cleaning up the sugar in my diet. I have been taking concentrated fish oil during this time too. I am on tirz. I do eat some sugary snacks but it's like once a week, not every day.

That’s the thing, my diet has vastly improved. I take fish oils. Also, Natures Bakery makes “healthy snacks” no refined sugar. Made out of dates and wheat flower. My A1C dropping is an indicator that I have lowered my intake of sugary snacks. Any guess is as good as mine. I can look into upping my dose of fish oil from 2,500mg/day to 4,000mg/day. I mean it is a cheap BS brand of fish oils, nonetheless it’s fish oil…… I hope. It’s just weird to me that all my labs got much better and triglycerides stayed around the same.

Triglycerides in the 300s is high. It could be retatrutide releasing fats into the bloodstream, like you said. You could give it another month and see how that goes. Talk to your doctor about using drugs to bring it down, you might not need them, but good to know options.

Health professional here. LDL matters more than total. If under 100 then that's good. Don't worry about TG unless it is 1000 or higher.

I know CJC/IPA also helps mobilize fat. So I’m thinking there’s a link there too. LDL looks great, since I’m only two months in on these Peps I’m hoping that things level out as time goes on.

Are you overweight or obese? You started on reta 2 months ago so I assume you have weight to lose. The HB1AC at the start was a bit highish ( pre diabetic ), with the moderately high triglycerides that sounds like metabolic syndrome.

The other lipids especially LDL probably matter more in terms of long term cardiovascular risk and the need for statins. And usually an isolated mildly high triglycerides number on its own does not need specific treatment, other than maybe fish oil or Icosapent ethyl. I suspect if you continue on reta and lose weight the triglycerides will continue to go down. Make sure blood pressure is OK.

The reta has already got you out of the prediabetic range, have not seen the studies on reta preventing diabetes ( not sure they have been done yet ) , but tirz is amazing , making developing diabetes with pre diabetes really unlikely, and reta is very likely to be just as good if not better, and it is definitely worth you taking reta for that reason alone.
