Hi all!

Woman, 31yo, and the gym has been a fixture for me since 2022 — roughly five sessions in a normal week. Before that I drifted in and out of training, but these last years are the longest unbroken run I've managed.

Around 2022–2023 I'd call it a successful re-comp: real shifts in how much muscle I carried and how much fat. Legs and glutes have been my project, with an overall shapelier look as the broader aim. For scale, I stand 6ft — yes, a tall one — and hover near 195 lbs.

The road hasn't run straight. A squat machine gave me a back injury back in 2024, and my weight slid to roughly 170 lbs. Losing some muscle was inevitable with training pared back, though I won't pretend the trimmer waist didn't please me for a while. Strength has crept back slowly since. There was a stretch where even 5 lbs was beyond my deadlift; these days I'm doing RDLs and similar again (close to 200 lbs is reachable, though I rarely chase it, out of respect for the back).

Progressive overload and food logging have been habits of mine for years, so I know my nutrition fairly well. What I've spotted lately is extra fat settling around the abdomen — an area that has always bothered me more than anyone else, apparently. It isn't dramatic, but for looks it's a puzzle I'm working on while also chasing more definition.

Sleep is one factor I suspect is in play. Sleep apnea has been with me since childhood (tonsils and adenoids came out over it), and quality is still poor — which I understand feeds into both recovery and body composition.

At the moment I'm looking at ways to trim down slightly, tighten back up, and later rebuild with more muscle on top. Peptides entered my radar recently and I've been reading. There's a great deal to absorb, so for now my purpose here is mostly education — seeing how others fold these into training and diet.

Amusingly, when I first brought them up, my sister said she was surprised I hadn't already tumbled down that rabbit hole. She doesn't train at all, yet assumed I'd be across it. So here I am, catching up.
