So I'm on 2.5mg every 5 days of Reta. Never had much of a sweet tooth or eaten many sweets in general but boy, on Reta seems I wanna just go nuts on sugary junk almost every day. I probably need to up my dose a bit to counter this as I've been at this dose 6 weeks but I notice similar even when I up my dose, though it does improve some.

Curious if this side happens to folks on Tirz?

For me anyway, Tirz shut that down right away.

However, everything I read about Reta, the big shutdown (for people losing weight) doesn't occur the same way and happens at the higher doses. People retain hunger but eat less.

I'm sure someone will pop up with some good answers for you...just thought I'd chime in on the Tirz part.

For some strange reason on Tirz I got the sugar MUNCHIES!!! I love these things. I should buy stock in the company LOL....

I ate a 500 calorie bag of Nerd Clusters yesterday… it was a choice more so than an unstoppable urge, but it’s not something I need to do very often.

That’s the most sugar I’ve had in a day in a while.

I get to craving carbs very randomly. That said, my eyes are so much bigger than my stomach now.

Edit to add, I’m on Reta.

I have a huge sweet tooth and Tirz killed it dead for me for about 6 months. Then, seemingly overnight, it lessened by about half? I am still able to resist sweets in a way that I wasn't before but now it's taking actual effort.

My spidey senses perk up when I walk by the Bakery in the grocery store, but then my brain says, "Abort, Abort," and I go straight to the produce section and never look back.

Sugar cravings are arguably Nature's way of wanting us to eat healthy starches like corn and sweet potatoes.

This is more my style...carbs, not sweets. I usually eat a half a baked potato and all is right in the world again.

Have a couple other rats that feel the same way, our sugary choice is actually the old bottlecaps candy.

Is that just a clever name or are you a pharmacist? Curious

I am actually a pharmacist. But to be very clear , any of my recommendations , thoughts or comments on this forum are simply for entertainment purposes only if you know what I mean...not providing professional advice.

Never had much of a sweet tooth before, but a year on tirz and I have to buy twin snakes every so often even though my overall caloric load is waaay down.

That's the thing though, I am eating a pretty decent amount of quality carbs throughout the day.

I'm at target weight so just running a low 2mg/week maintenance doseage.

OMG the root beer is the best flavor, and no one can convince me otherwise.

I definitely have the sweet tooth on Reta every once in a while (and I was on a carnivore diet for 3 years, so sweets aren't a big thing for me). Currently on 2.5mg of reta as just maintenance and have been here for quite a while. Just helps the fat me keep the fork out of my mouth.
