Hey everyone,

Male, 37 years old, 6ft tall, 319lbs — that puts me at a 44.5 BMI and 48.6% body fat.

For most of my life I've carried extra weight, and lately I've gone well beyond chubby into genuinely obese territory with a big belly. Tying my shoes has become uncomfortable. Getting into and out of the car means pushing myself up and dropping down into the seat. On top of that, I have a knee injury from 15 years ago and my acl is barely holding together. I have a baby now, and I need to get my life under control. I've always understood what has to be done, and I've done a ton of reading on proper nutrition and resistance training. The problem is I've never managed to stay consistent. My best stretch was 7 months in a row where I hit my macros and got to the Gym 3-4 times a week. I felt incredible, people around me noticed the change, and I had energy I could feel myself. Then I hurt my back, skipped a few gym sessions, the weekend came and I ate terribly. One thing led to another, I lost my momentum, and I quit both exercising and dieting. That was 7 years ago.

Right now I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I hate what the mirror shows me, and I hate even more how lazy and fat I feel every single day. This time I'm going after all of it again, but with Reta added in to give me that extra push and hopefully improve my overall health — not just for the weight, but for everything else it might do. My shipment is on the way and I'm hoping to begin next week. I'm lucky enough to have a functional trainer power rack in my garage, and I work remote while watching the baby. So I'm going to use that to my advantage: eat better, train consistently, get healthy, and take my life back so I can be the best father I possibly can!

Glad you found the forum — this is exactly where you belong!

It also seems like you're headed in the right direction.

Quite a few members around here share stories like yours, and nearly every one of us has had to fight some kind of battle.

Picking up knowledge here costs nothing, and after you've stuck around for a while, you start noticing other perks.

All it takes from you is your time.

Introduce yourself to folks and poke around for whatever catches your interest. My signature has a few solid links explaining how.

Happy you're here!

The future version of you will be too 😀

Thank you! This time I really do feel confident. Sure, confidence was never the issue before, but now my motivation comes from somewhere new — my little baby girl. Change will arrive, slowly but surely. Starting Reta has me both excited and nervous. If I'm honest, the side effects are what worry me most, so I'll begin with 1mg just to test the waters, then work my way up from there.

I appreciate the PepPedia link. Researching and learning is something I genuinely enjoy, and that's part of why this journey has been fun so far. Figuring out how to navigate this place took some getting used to. Anyway. Thanks Dude. Be seeing you around!

That search link is a good resource too, and occasionally applying the google trick — tacking on the site — can help you track down content here.

Something I picked up along the way: simply go through the new posts, including the ones you doubt are relevant to you.

Your learning will be substantial!

Not only regarding the subject, but regarding the members here who give their knowledge and wisdom.

That was a solid introduction, and I've gone through a handful of them by now. I've been saying to a room with nobody in it that simply pinning and hoping for magic to appear is a poor plan for the future. You've already witnessed what diet and exercise are capable of. That's the good stuff.

Plenty of people here will explain what pinning can do. When it's done right, it's good.

Do you want to witness some freaking magic? Take proper nutrition, whatever amount of decent exercise you can still manage, and add safe pinning with a plan and goal.

All three of those together is freaking magic.

You've come to the right place for information — this forum is the best there is, and that already puts you ahead.

That's exactly why I'm so pumped about this journey. Bringing all three together, plus a motivation I haven't felt before. It isn't only about appearance. My goal is real health, and to tack on as many years to my life as I can!
