Hey folks!

Anyone else out there finding that Tirz has actually made their bathroom trips easier?

For years, constipation was a frequent problem for me, and it got worse whenever I increased my protein. It seemed like the better my diet got, the harder it was to have a good, regular daily bowel movement. I was eating plenty of vegetables, oats, lean meats, fruit, that kind of thing.

My background: about 8 years ago I was nearly obese (alcohol issues, weed issues). I quit abruptly and turned my life around, began eating clean, have been lifting at the gym consistently for several years, and lost roughly 30 lbs of fat. Then the scale stalled and I fought through the last few years, fluctuating a bit, keeping most of it off but still carrying some extra weight, particularly belly fat. Throughout that whole time I would frequently feel constipated. Sometimes for days on end.

Not long ago I had bloodwork done, and it showed that despite taking better care of myself, I'm right at the edge of pre-diabetes (5.7% HbA1C). Since both of my parents are diabetic, I got my doctor to prescribe Mounjaro.

About 3-4 days after my first shot, my bowels seemed to finally start working properly. I go every day, like clockwork in the morning, and I'm stunned by this, because I'd read before that tirz usually causes more constipation. I was expecting to shit bricks every 2 weeks, but instead I'm making nice chocolate pudding every morning.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Certain individuals end up constipated, while others experience the opposite (I'll steer clear of your dessert comparison). So if your tendency is one direction and the side effect you get happens to be the helpful one, well, there you are.

After years of what was probably IBS, my pattern leaned toward constipation once I increased my protien. So I flipped from one extreme to the other. With Tirz, things evened out, and I'm more regular than I have been in quite a while. Others who deal with this have told me the same. The med gave us a pleasant little extra.

From what I remember, there have been plenty of threads about how gastric emptying shifts

If you search this forum for IBS, constipation, colitis, diarrhea, pooping (or any related terms), you'll turn up tons of conversations about improvements and/or changes.

Seems like every body reacts differently 🙂

(Those searches also surface discussions tucked inside people's Intro sections, which are easy to overlook).

Tirz was my regimen for close to 1 month, then I moved over to Reta.

These days my regularity is far better than it used to be, which is something I was hoping would happen and am glad about.

Honestly, that strikes me as a setup for being backed up (unless you're taking in enough liquids AND your system is actually routing them into your stool instead of flushing them out through urine). Slapping more water on your skin doesn't "moisturize" it, and by and large the same logic applies to your homemade chocolate pudding.

Regardless, it's good to hear that things are moving along more smoothly for you lately.
