Well, shingles has arrived. Great. No rash as of yet—only nerve pain.

Valacyclovir was started today on my end.

For the last 2 days I've been running a TET protocol: 1mg TA-1, 1mg Epithalon, 1mg Thymulin, taken once daily.

Lucky for me, a vial each of TA-1 and Thymulin had just been bought, so they were ready to use.

Any other solid support ideas out there?

I don't have any answers, and unfortunately this won't do you any good at this point, but anyone else who comes across this should get the vaccine. As you age, it becomes increasingly frequent, and it can hurt quite a lot. On top of that, there's an added perk: the vaccine appears to reduce the odds of alzheimer's by a fair amount. And maybe heart attacks too.

I'd really like to receive the vaccine. When I still had insurance, I hadn't reached the eligible age for it. Now I've just passed that age, but I don't have insurance anymore. That's the situation with insurance here in the US.

In Australia, access isn't all that widespread either, unless you're 70 or older. I'm on immune suppressing medication, which clearly puts me at higher risk, yet I only became eligible for a subsidised shot a month ago — and that happened because I lost enough weight that my immune suppressing dose crossed the per-kg threshold. At 67kg it runs several hundred dollars, while at 66 kg it's free?

I'm hoping an antiviral was started. From what I know, Valtrex is a major option. Your stack seems about as solid as it gets. After looking into it, TA-1 seems to come up the most. Wishing you a quick recovery.

Yep! Valtrex was begun by me yesterday.

That's great to hear! My mom went 2 weeks without any treatment, figuring she'd just tough it out. She grew up during the Depression, and people from that generation tend to handle things that way. The result was lasting sciatica and tinnitus, and she dealt with the pain for the rest of her life. This condition is seriously not something to brush off. After seeing what she went through, I'm glad I got the vaccine. My ex was given Valtrex, and it cleared things up fast—this was before Shingrex existed.

I'm skeptical that ozone has been validated as a treatment in peer-reviewed literature. That said, antivirals do accelerate recovery, ease discomfort, and—above all—lower the risk of post herpetic neuralgia, a frequent complication that may persist for years.

I'm that weird medical case where shingles just keeps coming back. Some years it shows up every 2 months, other years it disappears completely. By now I've dealt with it so often that I just skip treatment altogether.

Lysine works to keep the virus in check, so take that. Stay away from Arginine since it nourishes the virus. All the foods you enjoy contain Arginine. Things like wheat, nuts, chocolate, and so on. Dairy and proteins provide Lysine, though getting the proper dose is simpler with a supplement.

Into my coffee, I put it.

For a few years after sepsis, I dealt with shingles that kept coming back — no fewer than 3 outbreaks annually...it was miserable.

They put me on Valtrex...it made a difference.

It could be worth looking into Methylene Blue too, since it has antiviral effects, and using it in cycles. Just make sure to verify with the valtrex that nothing conflicts.

I came down with shingles when I was 46. Once the mandatory 6+ month waiting period had passed so I could qualify for the shot, my doctor issued a prescription. But when I turned 47, the pharmacist would not dispense or give me the vaccine, citing that I hadn't reached age 50 yet and that he didn't want to be “questioned about it if he got audited.” His reasoning was that since I'd already had shingles, it was equivalent to being vaccinated. 🙄 US healthcare….more worried about the audits than the healthcare.
