Reta Turns Cloudy: Bad Batch or Wrong BAC Water?

I picked up hospira green cap water by mistake - "30mL BA NaCl Diluent Solution is a sterile, nonpyrogenic preparation of water containing .9% (9mg/mL) Benzyl Alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative and .9% (9mg/mL) of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) as an isotonic buffer in a Multi-Dose Vial (MDV)"

Is it okay to mix reta with this? My first vial (15mg, black cap) came out cloudy when I tried it just now, but I've heard this could be a batch people already know is bad? Or does the water explain it?

The water is almost certainly the culprit. You'll feel some stinging when you inject it.

You've now learned firsthand that mixing reta with saline BAC tends to produce a cloudy solution.

That said, saline BAC is still fine to use with tirz, sema, and certain other peptides.

If you're really unlucky, your R15 could also be from a bad batch affected by TFA salt problems. That said, the saline BAC is the more probable culprit, since it's widely accepted that reta should not be reconstituted with saline BAC:

Starting off with, I am not a chemist. But it's been pointed out by others in the community that are deeply involved in research chemistry that Reta is not compatible with saline. This has been shown through experimentation as well.

It's not an issue with tirz or sema.

That same Reta gave me the identical result. Hospira bac was what I used, and it turned cloudy with tiny bits that broke down. After adding 1 unit of sodium bicarbonate, everything went clear immediately. That said, I’m not putting it into my body. So what I’d suggest is switching to regular bac and checking whether that changes anything.

Yeah, both problems could be at play here, and that would be a pretty rough combination.

For my part, I won't purchase R10, R15, or R20 from anyone. The last thing I picked up was R30, and going below that size isn't something I see myself doing. That said, an R10 did arrive not long ago from some unknown seller, and it mixed without any trouble.

Should curiosity get the better of you and you're out of standard BAC, an independent or compounding pharmacy nearby might sell Hospira BAC — assuming they're willing to look past the prescription requirement? (My guess is that's a long shot, or at least it would require an existing relationship. They'd also figure out it's for Chinese peptides, unless you claim it's for your compounded tirz or Zepbound.)

Left: tirz reconstituted with saline BAC (normal, clear). Right: Reta reconstituted with saline BAC (cloudy, precipitated):

Over on Reddit, an R20 turned cloudy after saline BAC was used:

I just mixed a 40mg Reta vial using Hospira and the solution turned cloudy. Freedom's purity results looked good — could this be a TFA salt problem? After passing it through a filter, it was clear again. One side of me is ready to inject it; the other side pictures a Total Recall-style third boob.

Would this BAC work with Reta?

I don't recognize that brand at all. What was your source for it?

This is the one. A buddy runs it alongside his Reta and put me onto it.

No problem at all. The reason people push for Hospira exclusively is that about a year ago, several brands—including some from the US—didn't pass testing; I believe it was roughly 7 out of 10. After all the attention that followed, you can be sure they cleaned up their act. Besides, your picture wasn't among those flagged. BAC is pretty tough to get wrong... in 9 years I've only run into 1 problem, and everything else has been fine.

Where did you buy this, if you don't mind me asking?

That BAC doesn't look right to me.

Below is a clip from one of the BAC bottles I bought on Amazon.

Right after the vials arrived, I noticed what appeared to be particles, so I held off using any of it. About 2 weeks afterward, these white strands showed up suspended in the liquid.

So that was it for me and Amazon BAC — or any supplier besides Pfizer/Hospira, for that matter.

Seems that isn't the case. I don't have permission — the system won't let me post.

My guess is it's due to that "no source discussion" label showing under your username.

Bac water works with Reta — I've been injecting with bac for years. Your bac should be okay. Try it and observe the results... like my husband puts it, "God hates cowards."

Should it be cloudy with floaters, you likely got a bad Reta batch. Saline bac containing sodium chloride is off-limits, check the pics above. The bac water you've got appears perfectly fine. Hospira is the better option, but make do with what's on hand.

Appreciate it. Clearly I'm a beginner here. When it comes to those little BAC vials sold by vendors, would you suggest going that route? Any upsides or downsides? I had no idea sealed mini vials of BAC even existed.

I've used it myself, and I still have 2 bottles left over from a 4-pack I bought on Amazon. Out of the 2-3 Amazon BAC waters that got tested (for pH and Benzyl %), this one made the cut.

It never let me down, and each 31ml bottle came in at under $5.

Pictured below is a vial of R30 that I reconstituted using 1.5ml of Lab 1 Research H2O.

Before we all jump to conclusions about that Total Recall “bonus”…there’s plenty you’re still in the dark about 😂
