Hey everyone!!

For the past 3.5 months I've been using reta to deal with obsessive food noise. My aim wasn't really weight loss—just to quiet the food noise—so I've stayed around 2-2.5mg/week. But I'm still binging and the obsessive food noise is still there?

Not sure whether I ought to switch to tirz?

Losing weight isn't my goal; I just want the obsessive food thoughts to stop.

Not an expert, but going by my understanding of the 3 — Sema, Tirz and Reta — the first two were the ones people reached for to stop food noise.

On such a low dose of reta, have you dropped any pounds at all? If the answer is no, or only a little relative to your body weight, then bumping up your reta dose is the easier route to test first. That said, I don't get how you'd see a drop in food noise and binging while not cutting intake and therefore not shedding weight?

According to basically everyone posting online, tirz wins for quieting food noise and curbing hunger. But since reta produces greater weight loss overall, it really cannot be weaker at suppressing appetite, even once you factor in some extra energy burn coming from the glucagon agonism.

At the start of my peptide journey, I had no idea that combining Tirz and Reta was considered a bad idea. I used both for 3 months. I dropped 20 pounds, and for me it was the ideal combo. I used to be someone who would get up 2-3 times each night to eat. After all, calories at night don't count, right? 😉 During that period, I never once woke up to eat. But once I quit taking both of them....Separate, cycling, food noise came back! And I came back to the midnight snack! Good luck to you!

When you look at the real data, Reta comes out clearly ahead

Alright! Perhaps I'll try tirz and see how it goes!
For 3 months I took tirz at 10mg, then began swapping it out for reta in 1mg increments. The reasoning being that it's "better", correct?

Once week 2 rolled around, my appetite and the food noise came roaring back. I stuck with it anyway, but when week 4 arrived (6mg tirz + 4mg reta) I chose to go back the other way. Having returned to 10mg tirz, the food noise and appetite are largely gone. For the time being I'll stay on tirz, since I'm dropping weight and that matters most to me.

That could be the case. This is only what I've seen from my own experience with Sema and Reta. I was taking Sema at a microdose of 0.6, and at the moment I suppose I'm doing what people would describe as microdosing Reta at 0.5. In my case, even at that small amount, Sema reduced food noise quite a bit right from the start, and strangely it seemed to wipe out my craving for sweets. With Reta, after 3 injections so far, there's been no reduction in food noise at all. Once more, this is merely what I've noticed up to now with these two. I realize everyone responds in their own way. It's possible the Reta will begin to settle the noise once my dose increases, but as of now, nothing.

I take 7.5mg Tirz on Friday and 3mg Reta on Tuesday. A lot of folks in this community combine the two in different ways. What suits you is something you have to figure out yourself.

When it comes to food noise, Tirz looks like the clear pick.

From what most people say, Tirz wins on curbing appetite, especially early on. You usually get noticeable appetite suppression within 24 hours of that first shot.

As for Reta, I've come across reports that its appetite-suppressing effect only shows up after you climb to higher weekly doses, around 4mg. For someone impatient like me who expects immediate results, that delay can be really annoying.

.6 mg of sema equals 1/4 of the max dose, while .5 mg of Reta equals 1/24 of the max dose. Your Sema intake was far greater than your Reta intake

What's the reason to pick either one when it comes to food noise? Weight loss is what both of them are made for. Tirz works on GIP/GLP-1, while Reta is a triple that includes GIP/GLP-1 plus Glucagon.

Is there any real data that focuses on food noise? I went through the TRIUMPH-1 data, and although it contains plenty of useful information, nothing in it suggests that Reta is "far better" than Tirz when it comes to cutting down food noise. If anything, the evidence points the other way. What the data does show is that Reta is far better for maximum weight loss, assuming you can tolerate it. For food noise, that is not the case.

Combining the two is perfectly acceptable, and plenty of folks already do it. Suppose you're after reta's glucagon activity while also seeking stronger suppression of food noise—adding tirz can help with that.

For me, Tirz was the choice.

My thinking: if progress stopped and it stopped helping, I'd save Reta as the bigger gun.

Also worth noting, back then Reta cost quite a bit more.

With so many unknowns, I can't say for sure I picked right, but I've been in maintenance for roughly 17 months and haven't had to explore other options.

A 27% drop was enough to reach my target too.

At minimum, it's fair to say you likely made a solid call. 😂
