Eli's Protect Reta Profit campaign is now running at full force, backed by a multi-million-dollar offensive that includes legal threats, smear campaigns, and paid warning PSAs. This material is appearing nonstop across multiple platforms. Just 4 months ago, I had never come across a single one.

A box showed up and my husband asked what it was. I told him it was my reta (and I KNOW he was crossing his fingers for cookies or something..hahahah). Then he asked what was coming tomorrow, and I said, oh, that's my reta too. He said wait, weren't you stocking up on Tirz? I told him yeah, I AM, but then it hit me that someday I might prefer Reta, and they could make it impossible to get, so I need to stock up on it while I still can- then I gave him the "I knew you'd understand" smile. He knows how resourceful I am and that I'm pretty good at analyzing trends, so he just nodded, said ok, that makes sense, kinda shrugged and went about his business.

So, like, that is pretty much permission to build an even bigger stockpile, right????? RIGHT?? I don't know why I feel so guilty stocking up. I think maybe because I hate being wasteful, and there is a chance in a year I'll be bored of this. Good news is if that happens, I have made friends here , so its not really ever a waste 🙂

I get it — right now I'm sitting here with my wife's purse in my hands, giving an approving nod each time she steps out of the department store fitting room and tells me why these new green outfits are needed to match the boots she picked up at the previous store. Totally logical.

Honestly, I think it would be foolish not to stockpile a lifetime supply of GLPs. You're paying less than the price of a weekly coffee. And think about how much more I'd be handing over in medical bills without them. Even in the worst case, if GLPs end up nearly free one day, all I've lost is a fairly small sum.

Honestly, once you understand how inexpensive and simple it is for them to produce these, it stops seeming so crazy. The grey market labs and vendors are pulling in millions. The truly crazy part is what Lilly charges, given that they manufacture the product for pennies.

Fresh serving of daily scare tactics just dropped

Today a CBS undercover report popped up on my TikTok feed, and my first reaction was: wow, this stuff is being sold all over the place!! The bodega samples they sent in turned out to be bunk, though they didn't really go into detail about the legit compounded version,

This is too funny:

[[Q1]]

So the product was retatrutide, yet not the same retatrutide Eli Lilly has? Are we to believe these are two distinct retas?
From what I recall, @Calm Logic wrote a post about the specific additives EL puts into Tirz, which is what sets it apart from the compounded version. (Yes, I reference him often... though to be fair, he does post a great deal!)

My guess is that the same thing holds true for Reta

Hmm, I'm curious about what those extras actually are — do they boost Tirz's effectiveness, or are they mainly there for stability?

Interesting. GoodRX has this to say:

Tirzepatide is the sole active component in Zepbound, though the drug also includes a number of inactive ingredients. These substances do not influence how tirzepatide acts within the body. Their usual roles are to preserve Zepbound's shelf life and stability, and to lessen injection discomfort.

For single-dose forms of Zepbound, the inactive ingredients are:

  • Sodium chloride (reduces injection pain)
  • Sodium phosphate dibasic heptahydrate (buffer that keeps Zepbound stable)
  • Water for injection (transports tirzepatide into the body)
  • Hydrochloric acid (modifies acidity)
  • Sodium hydroxide (modifies acidity)
My position is that varying preservatives or stabilizers does not turn it into a different drug. There is just one active ingredient. Compounders claim their products differ by including assorted other “active ingredients” such as B-12, Glycine, etc., yet the FDA has lately adopted the stance that this argument does not hold up.

It's also possible that the excipients differ.

Still, I'm not claiming it's a different drug or active ingredient.

When it comes to how well a product works and even its side effects, the API's quality is the main concern, assuming that really matters. With tirz at least, EL includes PBS as a buffer and handles all the other aspects flawlessly, which could additionally assist in stopping degradation or aggregation, even if only in tiny amounts.
