When you go looking for peptide information, do you do it in English, or do you use your native tongue? Which terms or expressions do you normally type in?

On Japanese boards such as 5ch (which took over from 2ch and functions somewhat like Japan's Reddit), GLP-1 medicines get plenty of discussion. The talk centers on the actual branded injection pens rather than the gray market as a whole. Other peptides see far less info and chatter, though awareness is gradually increasing. At least one site, peptidou.jp, offers peptide information in Japanese.

Personally, I handle all of this in English rather than Japanese. My guess is that most people do the same, since the biggest forums where peptides come up (here, STG, Reddit...) conduct nearly all discussion in English. On top of that, most vendors, and definitely the biggest ones, target the US market, where demand is highest. That too is all in English.

Is your plan to purchase from local sellers? The first person I bought from in Thailand was British, which meant English was all we needed. These days, the suppliers I use are Chinese, and I still communicate with them in English.

If I had tried looking things up in Croatian, mate, I'd still be caught in the yo-yo diet cycle, following tips like "just don't eat bread!"

Not once have I come across a chinese vendor putting out ads in a language other than english.

That said, when it comes to medical publications and research information, you'll definitely find plenty of sources in all sorts of languages... which have been translated into English too. Don't waste your time.

When I'm on ChatGPT, I go ahead and use my native language, since it makes no difference there (the studies it gives me come back in English regardless). With a standard search engine, though, that's not the case.

English — in Greek, the information is very limited and, at best, only basic

No matter what the topic may be, it's widely accepted that medical literature is always written in English, even when it originates in another language. I'm French, originally from France, and now I live in French-speaking Canada, yet I do all of my medical research in English, despite not being fluent in it at all.

Thanks to all of you for your responses! It seems English is the way to go, so it looks like I won’t need to bother figuring out other languages 🤓

That's a fair point! I often wonder how folks go about looking this up. Do you have any particular English words you usually rely on?
