I'm thinking about getting another Tangem and keeping it solely for crypto transactions. The idea behind this is that the amount I hold on my current Tangem is larger than what I feel comfortable putting at risk through online purchases. Are there any crypto experts here who can say whether doing this is unnecessary or not?
No additional Tangem purchase is necessary, since the one you already own can handle this. On a single Tangem, you're able to set up several named accounts, each serving a distinct role. Take this setup:
Trading Account
Main Account
- BTC
- USDC
- Other long-term holdings
Peptides Account
With that arrangement, all research purchases would come from the Peptides account while your main holdings stay untouched. Compartmentalising funds this way is straightforward and avoids the need for a second Tangem. Since it's a cold wallet, funds can't leave your crypto account to a third party unless someone physically has your Tangem Card. That makes it very secure and low risk from that angle.
