Hey all, I'm unsure of the exact timing, but at some point I'll need to pause Reta for several months because of a bunch of medical exams. I came across something saying that after quitting and then resuming, the results aren't as strong as they were initially, even if the dose stays identical. Has anyone heard anything about whether that's accurate?

Scientific data on what happens when you cycle on and off glp-1 drugs is pretty scarce, so most of what we have to go on is anecdotal — and those reports overwhelmingly point to restarting being less effective, with bigger doses needed before the drug works again.

A rat study came out not long ago, and it's covered in this thread:

Stopping and Restarting Certain GLP-1s to Lose Weight May Make the Drug Less Effective

I'm not trying to kick off yet another debate on whether staying on glp-1s for life is good or bad — feels like we've already run that one into the ground. This piece takes a slightly different angle though: it's about cycling glp-1s and whether that might cut into effectiveness compared with staying on them continuously...

Sadly, I suspect not many people will have the actual answer. I'll find out the moment I return.

My recommendation is to put together a tapering plan, bringing the dose down gradually instead of stopping abruptly. That way, your system gets time to adapt rather than facing a sudden change. From what I've seen, those who manage to come off GLPs without problems tend to do it this way. Something worth thinking about.

I already intend to stick with this plan

I'm curious about this too, though I can't say for sure. Once you've tried it, please come back and share what happened.
