Hey all! I go by Sean, and I'm a 57-year-old RN. Weight has been a struggle for me for a long time. Back in 1987, when I was 19, I underwent my initial stomach operation — what people generally referred to as "Stomach Stapling," though the medical name is "Vertical Banded Gastroplasty." I dropped a lot of weight, going from 315 to 160 within roughly 12 months. Over time, though, the pounds gradually returned. In 2005 I had a revision to a Roux-N-Y bypass. The outcome was comparable, except I no longer dealt with the sporadic nausea and vomiting. At the moment I'm taking Mounjaro 7.5 mg (this is my second month at 7.5 mg). I have a history of DMII and HTN. I've gone from 252 at the beginning down to about 215 now. Things are going well so far. Appetite suppression is fairly strong. That said, I'm interested in other peptides, such as retatrutide and cagrilintide, and what people's experiences with them have been. The doctor who put me on Mounjaro described it as a "wonder drug." The surgeon who did my 2005 revision said he was confident that within 20 years an effective non-surgical obesity treatment would exist. What I've gone through in recent months on Mounjaro certainly backs up that prediction. Anyway, that's my story. I don't want to put anyone to sleep. Glad to be part of this and eager to learn from all of you.
