Hey all!! I just joined here and I'm new to GLPs too. I spent some time reading posts before finally making an account. Seeing how well things have gone for so many of you is really encouraging, and it's pushed me to give this a shot and join in 🙂

This has been going on for me for a long time. I've spent years trying to drop weight (right now I need to lose roughly 50lbs) and just feel better overall. Nothing has helped, and I'm sick of feeling awful (pain, exhausted, hair loss, hashimotos etc), so I'm working up the courage to try GLPs (needles really really terrify me/make me anxious) because I kept reading that a lot of people also get relief from pain & inflammation. I've honestly attempted everything (it could fill one of those Christmas lists that roll out) when it comes to diets, ha ha. Each time I either lose nothing or barely anything, and once I quit I end up heavier than where I began + I worked out for more than a year (not just 1 week then stopping) doing 2-3 classes a day + walking with a friend, pool sauna etc. After all that I felt worse (exercise soreness stacked on top of pain). I don't eat much as it is (very small meals 1-2 times a day or my stomach will bother me), only drink water (aside from 1 morning coffee) or hot tea with nothing added. I very very rarely eat really junky (drive-through type) food. I cook 99% of time & make healthiER type foods. Not 100% perfect everyone has to live a little, but I do try.

I've seen different Drs, Endos, Rheumatologists, etc. After so many labs no one has an answer for me

Taken Phentermine, Topamax, Metformin & supplements, etc

right now I'm deciding between 2 which one I should start with (planning on very soon)

Really hoping this can be the answer!! Hope anyone with similar issues has success stories to share!! 🙂

Hello, nice to meet you. Hashimoto's is something I deal with too, and the same kinds of symptoms have been bothering me for a long time. My hope, same as yours, is that bringing down inflammation and getting my weight somewhat managed might improve things overall. I'm still in the looking and researching stage with reta. It could be useful, or it might not be. Trying seems worth it!

I'm trying to choose between T and RT, just feeling anxious, ha ha. Wow, that's a great deal & quick!! Congrats!! What's your total goal for weight loss? Are you experiencing any side effects?

Have you given any a go so far, or are you simply holding off until you can try Reta?

What's your experience with metformin—are you still on it? From what I've looked into, combining it with Reta seems to be okay, but I'd like to hear your perspective.

Needles shouldn't make you anxious. The ones used are insulin needles, extremely small. You hardly notice them at all!

After 1 month on Reta, I've already dropped 5kg/10+ lbs. It's done a lot to keep my hunger and how much I eat in check.

The main thing is to hit your protein target, otherwise you'll lose muscle too!

Greetings! I'm also just beginning this path! Best wishes to you!

Metformin never did anything for my weight, though in the beginning it made me feel noticeably better, and it helps me sleep—deeper sleep, more dreams. Sleep is an issue for me, and when I pause it and then resume, the effect on sleep gets much stronger. No side effects on my end, but I've heard gastro ones happen to some. That's exactly why I'm crossing my fingers that one of these will do the trick for me, given that nothing else has. I still need to find out how Tir or Reta work on their own, and after that decide whether to combine them. One thing I do know: my A1C dropped to roughly 5.1/5.2 from 5.5/5.6. What was your reason for wanting to take it?

Thanks!! I'll confess — needles and I are total beginners, ha ha

Way to go!! Dropping 5kg/10+ lbs in only a month is truly incredible!!

I'm aware I really need to be careful about getting enough protein (all the more since my appetite was already tiny & I'm pretty good at self & portion control). Thanks for the tip!! 🙂

Absolutely — when you're finally relieved to not think about food for once, protein tends to slip your mind without much effort!!

I have not begun any treatment so far. That is just how I have always been — my appetite tends to be quite low most days and I do not consume a lot — which leaves the Drs puzzled about the reason I continue to put on weight along with other problems. My hope is that T or R will at last be the solution I have been searching for, given that nothing I have attempted has produced results. I am so happy for all of you who have achieved such Amazing success!!

I am hoping to get started before long (right now I am just figuring out which one & which co to choose) 🙂

My routine combines metformin with tirzepatide, and thanks to that I've been able to keep my tirzepatide dose low across an extended period -- something I really needed, since I've been dividing up commercially available tirzepatide đź’¸ (it's no longer within my budget, which is why I've landed here!). At 1000mg/day I haven't experienced any adverse effects, though responses vary from person to person, so the only way to know is to give it a go yourself! It works for me, costs next to nothing, and a few studies hint that it may support longevity.

Worth mentioning: certain research indicates it could blunt some of your gym gains, in case that matters to you. Based on what I've come across, those effects are quite minimal, but they do exist. So just FYI.

At 5ft 10 and 107kg, people would assume I was eating nonstop. My diet was far from ideal, yet it would seem like I survived on full sugar drinks and junk food alone. Just bad genetics, really. I'm fairly confident my body handles carbs badly and that my metabolism is sluggish overall.

Something along the lines of R or T should genuinely assist in getting your metabolism functioning properly and incinerating that accumulated fat (particularly R, given the glucagon component!). My suggestion would be R. It suppresses hunger less (and from what you've said, you don't want hunger wiped out completely!) but it will do amazing things for fat burning and giving your metabolism a boost.

Thanks a lot!! Have you given both a shot? Same here, water is my only drink besides morning coffee — I put in 1 spoon of flavored creamer and a splash of milk.

Wherever possible I sneak protein in: blending cottage cheese into creamy sauces, using plain Greek yogurt for salad dressings, etc. Small tricks like these help it stack up

My Metformin prescription is 2,000mg. Most nights I only take the 1,000. Because it's ER (extended release), I haven't experienced any side effects

Honestly, just pick RT. It's worth it. There's a ton of research behind RT, really thorough, and plenty of human data too. On top of that, RT seems to do a good job of helping you keep muscle while you're dropping weight.
