New to Reta, saying hi

Hi everyone,

I’m just starting out with Reta — my first order is in, and I’m keen to see how it might help with my weight loss! I’m here to look into info and all the rest!
Glad you're here! I'm in the very same situation. Let us know how it goes 🫡

My initial order was placed last week as well. Once it arrives, I'm eager to give it a go. My goal is to drop roughly 30 lbs.

While using reta, fatty foods—especially fast food—are something you must avoid. Sulphur burps will hit you; it's a nasty eggy-tasting burp essentially. Never rush your dose upward assuming more mg means quicker results. Your body has to adjust gradually. Take my case: 2.5mg during week 1, then I doubled it to 5 the following week, and after that injection I couldn't eat for 3 days. I went too fast, but 2 weeks on I'm okay and the 5mg dose feels normal now. Make sure you aren't simply consuming anything and everything. Sticking with good foods gives the best outcome. Fast food is allowed, but you'll feel awful (weight will still come off slowly if you're in a deficit). Get to the gym and train whenever you can. Dehydration can also pile up because you lose the urge to drink water, so do what I do: chug protein shakes (mine come from costco, 30g protein, 160 kcal) and drink LOTS of Coconut Water. I'm down 13kg in a month. Any more questions—like my reply + send me another reply. Somehow I can only see when my post gets liked, idk where in my notifications the section for messages replying to me is.
Apologies first, Vondutch, if this is taking over your thread 🙂

Keto is what I follow, and it's the sole diet that has let me fully silence food noise. No hunger, no cravings at all. I've cycled through it several times, and by now I've got electrolytes down, I avoid processed foods, and I lean on tools such as ChatGPT and the like to monitor my macros. I can estimate my protein portions by sight, effortlessly, because I'm not hungry. OMAD is my approach (one meal a day), so on top of that I fast for 20+ hours. None of this involves glp1! Still, I can't summon the drive to begin working out 🙁 !! In the past I dropped 15kgr through keto by itself, but I wanted to speed things up with exercise and cut muscle loss and so on. I need a push to get going, since I know that once I begin, I'll stick with it. It's foolish and stupid that I already know the steps and yet some invisible force keeps me pinned down. So here I am instead, hunting for a shortcut lol. For 1 month I gave Mounjaro 2.5 a try, but the cost is absurd. My side effects were very mild to nearly nothing, aside from some constipation, which I anticipated and which wasn't really a problem. My hope is to start ret at 2mg and then, after a couple weeks, move to 4. I began at 130kg and, with keto alone, I'm down to 125kg in 10 days. I know the first kilos are water, so there's a long way left, but already my jeans feel loose and my face looks more defined. We'll see how consistent I can remain, because it's the long run that will make the difference.

Thanks for your input and for sharing so everyone can read it. I can't wait to get past the trial period and start asking the community the hard questions.
If you end up starting Reta, I'd suggest moving away from Keto and going with a meat based diet instead. From my own experience, Reta hits hard, so it's smart to get ready ahead of time. Even at 2mg, it wipes out your food noise (that's just what happened to me). Carbs need to be a big part of your intake since training has to start. I get exactly what you mean about needing something to push you into the gym, that was me too. I kept telling myself I'd begin losing weight once I had reta, because then I'd know if I slacked off I'd just be throwing money away, you know? But look at it this way: get into working out before reta and build some muscle, then picture how much quicker things move once reta is added. Our situation is basically identical. About 3-4 weeks back I was 134kg when I began my consistent Reta cycle. Now I'm at 120 kilos. Even with eating badly (every few days I'd eat poorly, not from hunger but just habit), I still lost 13 kilos. Gym strength hasn't budged at all, yet the fat is coming off. Just take that first gym step and watch what happens without reta, then multiply it by roughly 5x, and that shows how powerful Reta is IF you stay consistent. Reta will likely push you into OMAD regardless lol, so make that single meal heavy on protein, then have some carbs as a snack before the gym so your energy doesn't crash, since reta can wear you out fast. Again, like my post so I can find it later. Let's keep talking, tell me if you want help figuring things out.
Curious whether anyone here has combined keto with ret. On keto alone my food noise is already completely gone — I only eat to meet my macro targets. What I love about keto is that insulin stays low and steady, so even after a big plate of meat, some veggies and a salad, with carbs kept under 30gr, I get no fatigue at all. No sluggishness, and my head feels sharp. Before starting I hoped to get to the gym and put on a bit of muscle, since I figured I'd lose some along the way, but that plan fell through — and honestly, once you drop a chunk of weight it's simpler to get around. I just have to give myself a kick and actually show up at the gym lol. Theory is where I shine; practice is where I stall. My eating is strict and well organized, and I stay on top of electrolytes every day. Honestly I think I should hire someone to pester me into going — maybe someone hot. lol

Bring a buddy along to the gym, pick someone with a specific aim such as dropping fat or putting on muscle, and hold one another to it when it comes to missing sessions and that sort of thing — that's the approach I took, and it paid off nicely

The talk about endotoxins got me worried, so I wanted to get in on those group tests. Since I’m still on prob, I’m guessing I can’t send anyone a pm? Or maybe I’m just being a Dum(b) me.

To truly gauge what Reta is doing, spend roughly a week wearing a glucose monitor while eating as you normally do, so you have a baseline. After that, begin Reta and repeat the same monitoring routine.

Keto isn’t new to me — I’ve gone through stretches of it many times, including one run that lasted a solid 2 years, with only a few days paused for holidays. After a brain tumor, I ended up with epilepsy, and keto gets frequently suggested for that, with effectiveness comparable to certain medications.

When tirz came along and later Reta, I stayed on keto through both. Staying in ketosis, though, was VERY difficult to want to keep up!! The meds killed my hunger, and keto demands dense, heavy food — meaning fat made up 70-80% of it… getting enough calories in simply wasn’t something I could do.

There’s another factor with keto: fat digests slowly, so your appetite drops. Add that slow fat transit on top of tirz/reta slowing food processing, and my stomach stayed full and bloated alllll day.

Once I totaled up how little I was eating alongside a stomach that felt packed from morning to night, the result was a lot of tiredness, reflux, and nausea as well.

Dropping keto and returning to a moderate carb diet made every one of those symptoms disappear. My seizure meds did have to go up, though. Tradeoffs!

I’m a keto pro so I’m here to help if you have questions.

I’m totally with you on stopping keto once tirz/reta comes into play. The appetite suppression is so strong, you’re wiped out, and digestion drags on the entire day!

Keto gave me great mental clarity, mood support, seizure control, and stamina, but stacking it with glp’s was just too much.

Once my weight settles, maybe I can switch to a maintenance Reta dose and pick keto back up for those other perks. I’ll update everyone when that happens! If things go smoothly, it’ll likely take 4-6 months.
