Hey all — just signed up
I’m here because losing weight has been a long-running battle for me, and right now I feel pretty stuck. I can be reasonably consistent with my eating and I try to stay active, yet the scale barely budges (or the weight returns fast), and it’s chipping away at my confidence and drive.
I think insulin resistance could be a factor (purely from how my body behaves — cravings, energy crashes after eating, weight that won’t shift, etc.), but I haven’t had proper testing yet and nothing has been officially diagnosed.
I’m trying to work out whether GLP-1 medications (semaglutide/tirzepatide and similar) could be an option for someone in my situation, and what the real-world path looks like — pros, cons, which labs to ask for, and how people weigh it up against sticking with lifestyle changes alone.
If anyone has been through something similar (particularly suspected insulin resistance, prediabetes, PCOS, or “all my results look fine but the weight won’t come off”), I’d be really grateful for:
I’m not after medical advice — I mainly want to hear other people’s experiences and figure out what questions I should be putting to a clinician so I can decide with proper information.
Thanks — good to have found this community.

- what led you to look into GLP-1s
- which tests you had first (A1c, fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, lipids, thyroid, etc.)
- what you saw change (weight, appetite, energy, cravings)
- any tips for raising eligibility and safety with a GP/clinic
