Hey everyone,

I've been using tirzepatide for close to 6weeks at this point. My goals are to shed some weight and — as my username probably gives away — get some relief from my depression.

Since my teenage years I've been attempting to lose weight, but I could never keep up with any long term goals or remain consistent. I'm hoping this marks the final 'start' of my weight loss journey.

Same here — luckily fluoxetine gave me a partial response; otherwise I'd have felt like no antidepressant would ever work for me.

I've tried more standard medications ssri, stimulants that was prescribed to me through the years and nothing seems to work long term. Im curious about what others have experienced with peptides.

To start, welcome to this wonderful community of ours. A few additions I think could be worth considering are Selank (anxiety, stress regulation, emotional stability), Semax (cognition, neuroprotection, neurotrophic signaling), Mots-C (mitochondrial metabolism, exercise adaptation, insulin sensitivity) and SS-31 (mitochondrial function and cellular stress) — these peptides are ones I would genuinely suggest looking into. My hope is that this helps you feel better and reach your goals for a life-changing experience. Once more, welcome friend. I look forward to seeing and hearing about all your successes.

How are you dosing and cycling Semax? I've only just begun and I'm not certain the protocol I picked is the right one. My plan is to titrate at .5mg for 2 weeks, then move to .8mg for 6 weeks, followed by 8 weeks off. Does that seem correct? 8 weeks off feels like a long stretch to me. Because I'm taking it for adhd, I'm curious whether I'd notice a drop off during the off cycle. I'm also running a 5/2 schedule during the active cycle.

Welcome HMD! Achieving a healthy weight is a great first step. Tirz was like putting my weightloss goals on autopilot. Six months in and 40 pounds down without any of the typical mental or emotional burden around eating and food.

I was trying to make myself feel better with food in the short term and ended up making myself fat and sad in the long term. I still love to eat, but now I can take it or leave it whereas before I NEEDED IT.

Does that qualify as anhedonia? Maybe, but now I don't care anymore! 😂

Are there any peptides you're considering that might target mood or depression more directly?

Anhedonia is the loss of enjoyment in activities that once brought us pleasure. It leaves people feeling flat and unmotivated, and it can get in the way of motivation and staying committed to goals. Getting excited becomes difficult.

That said, I don't believe it relates at all to the sensation of "needing" food.
