Hey Everyone, here's my required introduction post ๐Ÿ™‚

To be upfront - I usually just read and never post, but this place has so much specific information laid out in a way that doesn't feel overwhelming. So it makes sense to actually let myself join in.

I'm a guy in his mid-30s from Australia, and my history with eating and body image has been pretty terrible. ARFID has been with me since I was about 3 or 4 years old, and it's caused huge psychological struggles around food. I did manage to lose a considerable amount (-45kgs) across several years, and then began the never-ending work of improving my mental state.

I spent some time on Semaglutide, and the most surprising part was how much it quieted food noise - which I think ties more to ADHD and anxiety traits than to genuine "cravings". I'm eager to read more and get a better grasp of that link through what's shared here.

Like a large number of other users, I'm also trying to make a well-informed decision regarding other weight-related choices.

I don't want to come across like a sappy greeting card, but thank you to everyone who has shared and keeps sharing their knowledge and experiences. It matters enormously for people in my position, who might lack the experience or confidence to post normally. I hope to get better at that too! ๐Ÿ™‚

G'day mate, always nice to spot another aussie around here! The ADHD plus food noise combo really hits home for me too - "nothing stimulating going on? ..wonder what's in the fridge! ๐Ÿ˜…". Hearing that the GLPs made a difference there gives me some hope (I haven't given any a go my self yet).

Looks like there's a decent crowd of us on here! Haha yeah, that sure doesn't make it any easier - getting out of that auto-pilot loop has changed everything, though it does take some effort to maintain. At the beginning Sema felt unreal - zero food noise whatsoever. It crept back in gradually, but nothing like the intensity before, so it worked well as a tool to support the process. Should you ever decide to try GLPs, I hope it does the trick for you!

Glad to have you here! The way it quiets food noise caught me off guard as well. Up to this point, I'd say that has been the toughest hurdle for both me and my husband. And nope, you don't come across like a Hallmark card. ๐Ÿ™‚ Wishing you the very best as you move forward!

G'day cobba

I can really relate to the ADHD and anxiety eating, and I also feel lucky to have come across this forum and all the useful info here. I'm hoping to begin Reta soon, as soon as it's available, to quiet the noise and get some help staying in a deficit

Cheers! It only really hit me how full-on it had been once it stopped. Wishing both of you the results you're after! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello there

That's quite the struggle, isn't it? Before long it turns into an "auto-pilot" cycle where you keep reaching for food to find that calm. Hopefully Reta will help you get it under control โ€” from what I can see, a lot of people posting here are reporting positive results ๐Ÿ‘
