Hi everyone. I just went to do my weekly injection and burned through 5 needles. The first one was for pulling the bac water, then it went into the peptide bottle. But when I tried to draw from the vial to inject, the vial gave nothing. I switched to a second needle — still nothing. Third one — nothing again. On the 4th try it finally worked. I've had this happen before, back when I accidentally took 30mg tirz instead of 15mg. After that I found out a couple of the needles were faulty.

This batch is a different brand — BD micro fine plus. I can't recall what the other ones were because I wrapped them up and stored them away.

So does anyone have a recommendation for syringes from the uk that don't have this problem? The time I took more mg than I should have, I didn't have my glasses on and thought the bac water was in the syringe and going into the vial — obviously it wasn't. But 1ml went in instead of 2. I was wondering why I only got 2 weeks out of the vial instead of 4!!

It might help to search "how to reconstitute peptides" along with "how to draw from a vial" and go through no fewer than 30 different videos.

After that, have AI guide you through each of the two processes. PUT YOUR GLASSES ON !!!

Take care so you don't wind up in an ER...

Best of luck !

Last night my reta gave me a similar problem. As soon as I pulled back on the plunger to draw the liquid out, it only dribbled into the syringe. I stuck it a second time and the flow was even slower than before. Switching to another needle brand made no difference either. My guess is the stopper on my vial is faulty. This isn't a beginner situation for me — before my Mom was switched to pens, I was the one drawing her insulin out of a vial.

I'm fully aware of the whole process. It's been 2 years now that I've been doing this. The thing is, I'd never come across faulty needles until now, so this caught me off guard. As for glasses — I don't actually need them; I wear them just as an added safeguard so I can be sure I'm aiming at the vial's center. The one occasion I overdosed happened because the bac water wouldn't pull up and never made it into the vial — I was exhausted and running on autopilot after so many repetitions. Still, I appreciate the suggestion!! What I'm after is info on needles, not guidance on reconstituting

Did the vial have a lot of vacuum? When you reconstituted, did the bac water get pulled out of the syringe? If that happened, it could be working against you. Before you draw your dose, try putting the same amount of air into the vial. That normally fixes it for me whenever I run into trouble. From what you've described, am I right in thinking you aren't filtering before use?

That's the essence of correct reconstitution and drawing methods: vent the vial and inject air equal to the amount you plan to pull out.

what gauge are your needles?

Mine are Embecta Micro-Fine 30g 8mm, available via their Amazon shop, but some vials give me trouble unless I aim dead centre on the stopper and pull back really slowly.

Most of the time I pull air into the syringe first, then once you push it into the vial you get bubbles, which tells you the position is right.

One side note, my recon needles are much bigger, which makes it super easy with no worry about fumbling the smaller ones. The vial should just pull the bac in without any pushing down at all.

I did every step you listed. At this point 4 of the needles have been useless — nothing will enter them, and even though I draw back and inject air into the vial first, not a single drop reaches the needle. Could the vial itself be the problem, like someone suggested before?

Yeah, certain ones I have behave the same way — when the bac water goes into the vial, it can get pulled in way too hard!

Pull the plunger out completely before you pin. A needle that isn't blocked will let it slide upward without resistance.

After that, push the syringe through the vial stopper so the air pressure balances out. Put the plunger back in and add pressure for the volume you want to pull, plus a little more. Drawing the precise amount may mean wrestling with that pressure somewhat, but it's doable.
