I'm a 21-year-old girl on reta and still have a fair amount of weight left to lose, which has me worried about skin elasticity. On top of that, I deal with acne scarring and my hair grows really slowly. What would you all suggest? GHK-cu is the only one I really know about, but if something works better or there's other stuff worth stacking, let me know 🫶

When it comes to skin and hair, research points toward raw GHK-Cu being safer for topical application than injected use. For building collagen, GHK-Cu is less powerful than retinol, though the two can be combined (for example, apply topical GHK-Cu in the morning and retinol at night, and GHK-Cu raises no sun-exposure concerns). Subq GHK-Cu might deliver greater skin benefits than the topical form, but then the question becomes what dose to use, and that dose may be far higher than what grey typically supplies.

At your age, skin elasticity should bounce back well provided the weight loss isn't too rapid. A useful guideline is to lose no more than 1% to 2% of total body weight each week. If/once you are outside the obese range, try slowing to roughly 1 to 2 pounds (0.5 to 0.9 kg) weekly.

Regarding other peptides, retinol/tret cream is clearly the better choice for acne scarring. A few other, less common raw peptides exist for topical use, including Matrixyl 3000 for a collagen boost and AHK-Cu for hair. Like raw GHK-Cu, some of these can also be sourced outside grey:

These ingredients have been popular in DIY skincare communities for a very long time, so I would look at established cosmetic ingredient resellers rather than grey-market peptide sources.

A lot of reputable cosmetic raw material suppliers/resellers provide the exact INCI name, concentration, solvent/base, usage range, and up-to-date spec sheets.

The only tricky part is that these are often sold under various trade names, so you’ll usually need to identify the INCI name for each ingredient and then use Google to match it accurately.

For example:

Disclaimer: I have not ordered these specific ingredients myself, but I have purchased other ingredients from this reseller over many years. You’ll still need to test your own formulas to make sure the final product is stable. Otherwise, I’d stick to making small batches and using them up within a week.

Ahk is for hair growth. Don't rub or inject where you don't want hair

For subq, KPV may help with skin inflammation from active acne, but no human research has been published. Among the KLOW peptides, KPV is likely the safest, partly because it doesn't last long. A longer-acting, NA version of KPV is only now beginning to become available.
