My body hates me

Right now my body and I are not on good terms. Lately I've felt exhausted and completely drained, to the point where simply moving forward has felt like a struggle. I figured it was just the toll of everything my body has endured, all those surgeries included. Turns out that wasn't it at all.

During my yearly checkup, the bloodwork my Dr ordered came back looking rough.

My potassium has dropped to a dangerously low level.

Both my b12 and b 6 are low

My vitamin D is low

And my liver enzymes came back abnormal.

The potassium and vitamin D are things I'm always fighting. The d ties back to my lupus and how little time I can spend outdoors during summer.

As for the liver, that's from the 2 strong antibiotics I took after the dog bite.

According to her, the rest stems from my body not getting in enough food, liquid and protein.

So now I'm on separate supplements for each problem. Protein is the toughest one for me since I can eat eggs or much meat. My stomach gives me so many problems.

In under a year I've gone through 3 major surgeries. If I can't get all of this sorted out, my last one won't be happening.

So my focus is on getting 5 small meals a day into me. It's tough because hunger just isn't there. Without my husband pushing me I doubt I could manage it. I'm fairly sure that subconsciously an eating disorder is developing in me. It has nothing to do with the tirzepitide. It's me because of my battle with obesity my whole life. I finally am looking good for the first time ever. So I have to work on my body dysphoria issues. I'm not going completely off of tirzepitide. I'm just lowering the dose for now. I have my first counseling appointment set up for next week. I'm just glad I'm realizing it before it's to late.

So here's to getting myself back on track.

That's an enormous amount on your plate. It seems like you're handling it the right way, facing everything with bravery and self-reflection. Making that counseling appointment is especially worth celebrating. I really admire and respect you for this, and I'm hoping your situation improves before long. Let us know how it goes?

Fam, right now you’re dealing with way too much! I hope you can bounce back and get your levels where they should be, and on top of that, I hope a big dose of good luck comes your way!

I don't claim any expertise here, but potassium pills are usually pretty mild, and the same goes for sports drinks—since an excess of potassium can do serious harm....My long-standing approach has been to alternate 'salt substitute' with ordinary salt when eating dinner. What makes salt substitute different is that it's potassium chloride rather than sodium chloride...which means a very concentrated dose of potassium. Should you decide to go this route, simply check the label and decide for yourself how to use it...GL

I appreciate it. This will pass, and I'll come out the other side.

Yes, you will! Clearly, you're resilient! Still, I'm hoping you get a winning lottery ticket, an inheritance from a forgotten relative, or at least neighbors who pick up after their dogs 🙂

Standing with you, from the crowd of folks dealing with health issues. Sending good vibes.
