Hi

Has anyone managed to move TRT out of glass ampoules into multi-use sterile vials safely?

The idea is to make small daily TRT doses simpler. That way there's no need to keep preloading insulin syringes, and no need to discard most of an ampoule every day.

If someone tries this, what safe methods should they know about?

Thanks

Ampoules intended for one-time use generally lack antimicrobial preservatives such as benzyl alcohol. Because of that, moving their contents into a multi-use vial would carry a very large infection risk.

....I've got some B12 ampules and have considered doing this with them...I have the right luer lock filter syringes for drawing and injecting...but I've also considered moving some or all of it into a sterile vial and adding 1:1 BAC to the vial...That won't produce a proper .9% BA solution, but I'm trying to find a way to salvage the unused portion of the ampule...

I just know that some compounders include B12 in their GLP vials "for the reasons" and it's like, what the hell, if you're going to use it within a short time period......idunno

Mate, adding BAC water isn't going to work in this case — TRT is an oil, and oil and water just split apart, so there's no practical way to introduce a preservative afterward. Ampoules designed for single use typically contain no preservative at all, and that's exactly why they're intended to be used once and discarded; if you keep that oil in a vial you've punctured, sterility then depends entirely on how good your technique is. The easier route is generally to ask your prescriber about the multi-dose vial version, since that already includes a preservative such as benzyl alcohol, or to discuss a dosing schedule in which each ampoule accounts for one injection.
