When hunger goes down, hitting your protein goal can prove tougher than you'd think — particularly if you keep up a regular training routine.

Which approach do you lean toward: several smaller meals spaced across the day, or leaning on protein shakes and foods that are simple to eat? What has worked best for you while avoiding that overly stuffed feeling?

When my appetite was low, protein shakes and greek yogurt became my go-to choices. I found them simpler to consume and I spaced them out across the day.

I think the trick is to keep it small and unexciting. On days when real food feels unappealing, a shake works; on days when it doesn't, go with actual meals.

Both approaches can work, though with a suppressed appetite the simplest solution is protein in liquid form — a shake won't leave you as full as eating a plate of chicken would. For most people, the best pattern is to eat the protein portion of every meal first, then close any remaining gap with a shake, greek yogurt, cottage cheese or a bar. If you're training, the typical goal is around 1.6g per kg of bodyweight, and dividing that into 3-4 servings of 25-40g is much gentler on a GLP-1 stomach than two large meals. Protein comes first, then add veg and fibre as you're able, mate.

For me, mixing things up is what works. I go with chocolate protein shakes, standard meats, eggs, Quest protein chips, jerky or beef sticks, flavored protein powder (the 1up flavors are my favorite), protein gummies, and whatever protein cookie recipes happen to show up on ig.
