Another option worth a look is something along peptide lines: HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin). It works much like enclomiphene — it gets your body making its own testosterone, provided your body still can.
hello, but the mechanism isnt the same. HCG drives LH and SFH, while enclo works through the estrogen receptor, so they travel different paths.

In my case i ran clomid citrate, T went from 296 to 866, but i didnt feel any different — no morning wood, no libido boost.
My read is that OP simply wants his testosterone level up and is not necessarily hunting an ED fix. Either Enclomiphene or HCG will do that, assuming everything is functioning as it should. Some people run Enclomiphene and HCG together.

Clomid is probably one to avoid, since it carries unwanted side-effects that Enclomiphene does not. It gets confusing because Clomid is sometimes mislabeled as Enclomiphene--especially the product coming out of India.
yep that happened to me, i ask for enclo and got clomid, the paper showed my T went up but with no possitive effects, so far no side effect on clomid eod 25mg
You likely know this already, but for an ED issue the best options are probably Sildenafil (Viagra in the USA) or Tadalafil (Cialis). Of the two I would lean toward Tadalafil. These medications do more than fix ED, and I am coming round to the view that a small dose makes sense for most older men, whether or not ED is a problem.

You mentioned using reta — if you are eating far less than usual right now and dropping weight, that can push testosterone down as well.

Before anything else I would want to know why it is that low. A full mens blood panel would be first on my list.

On top of total and free testosterone:

Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), prolactin plus sex hormone binding, and Sex Hormone-Binding globulin.

Together those tell you whether you are genuinely hypogonadal, or whether there is a pituitary problem or something else behind it.

If hypogonadal turns out to be the answer, sorting that is a sensible first step.

Body composition matters here — metabolic problems can be what is dragging your T down.

Carrying a lot of extra weight? Shedding those pounds alone can lift your T levels.

There are things you can start on right now, before any of that comes back. Get your nutrition dialled in, same with your cardio and lifting, and stop or sharply cut the booze.
All of those are being drawn this week. Dhea, LH,FSH, total T, free T and estradiol. My SHBG came back at 15.2nmol.

My guess is I'm carrying about 20ish lbs too much; right now 228 at 6'1", working on getting to 200

I rack up 12k-15k steps across the day and train 4x a week. Drinking is kept to 1x a week, and even then only a few drinks
What did the blood work show? With that, we/you can work out what the best next steps are. Before starting anything like Enclo I would put in a lot of research. It may not be lifelong, but there are plenty of sides and several dosing strategies you would want to know about if you go ahead.

As several people here have said, body fat carries a lot of weight in this. For now, at your age, running a glp (tirz/reta) down to a healthy/fit body fat% is probably the best place to start — it improves all your major health markers and hormones at once.
My results are below, and I guess they all sit “in range”. No dexa scan yet, but I really don't think my bf% is that high — I'm nowhere near lean, though I do have a belly. I've read a lot about Enclo and all the sides, which has me a little worried but hasn't scared me off.

Enclomiphene is probably where to start. Get your own testosterone production going properly again and see how far it climbs. That could hold low test levels off for a few years

and if that fails, trt is a decent second option. Test levels fall as you age, so for most people avoiding low test eventually means trt somewhere down the line. Start that road, though, and it is a long term commitment (so think it through properly and research it first). Your endocrine system is already producing low test on its own; suppressing it further with exogenous hormones means that even if you came off and ran a pct, it will never really produce a high level of test again (and much of that is simply age). Staying on is therefore probably the better call here, if only to dodge the hormonal and emotional rollercoaster of starting and stopping.
Enclomiphene is definitely the direction I want to take. Plenty of people I have spoken to started trt in there 30s, said they loved it and could not imagine going back, and called it the best decision they had made. Given the 2nd test came back higher than I was expecting, I will probably just start with enclo at a low dose.

The mom in me just came out — I read “Low test /recommendations” and my instant thought was YOU NEED TO STUDY MORE. Such a one dimensional being I am .
