I'm not sure what more anyone could want from these drugs.

Development is entering a period where nothing much moves forward.

The only remaining advance would be a medicine that lets you keep your old habits, put in zero effort, and simply take an injection.

My view is that we're on the threshold of a fresh chapter in medicine and drug development, one in which A.I. uncovers novel approaches to treating disease and adds years to human life on a major scale.

I'd have to agree. Our grasp of biology today surpasses anything we've had before. Combine that with how quickly technology keeps advancing through machine learning and large language models, and my sense is that we're standing right at the edge of the next stage of human evolution. Honestly, it wouldn't shock me if life expectancy shot up exponentially within the next 10-20 years. Naturally, that brings along a whole pile of other problems.

Regardless, what a moment to be alive.

200 years ago, diarrhea meant writing a will and telling your loved ones goodbye. These days, you pull on your colored underpants, drive to Taco Bell and welcome the blow out.

A recent Radiolab episode digs into how AI can be used to pair existing drugs with off label uses they might also work for. The physician at the center of the story actually used this approach to rescue his own life.

For me it ranks among the strongest episodes from a podcast I already count among my favorites. Definitely worth a listen.

I'm deceased. Wow, that's hilarious. Still, these medications really are on another level. Obesity is going to be a THING OF THE PAST
