I’ve got subscriptions to both ChatGPT and Claude, and I’m on the verge of dropping ChatGPT since Claude suits what I need far better. Still, every one of these large language models is prone to hallucinations and inventing artifacts that don’t exist. You can push back on what it tells you, and often the AI will walk its answer back. That doesn’t exactly leave you feeling confident.
For me, the breaking point with ChatGPT came when I was getting ready to visit Pope Francis’s tomb in May and needed details. Chat kept insisting I couldn’t go see his tomb, because he hadn’t died. I ended up having to persuade Chat that Francis really had passed away, and even then there wasn’t so much as an apology
