Let's Talk TELEGRAM

A major share of the trouble lives inside the groups themselves. You get something like 50 topics, arranged in no particular order, and every one of them carries its own garish, brightly colored, blinking icon. It looks as though a table of contents got thrown up all over the screen. The result is that you don't even want to glance at it. Anyone studying UI design ought to be shown Telegram as a textbook case of how not to do it.
Honestly, it comes down to simply paying attention. I locate the GB and then continue from there.

Nope. Things ought to be arranged clearly, with no visual clutter. Locating what you need otherwise takes far too long.
Honestly, that doesn't bother me. I don't require spoon-feeding — I'm able to work it out without much trouble.

"I don't organized"

"Buys is of them"

"spoon feed"

I'm beginning to grasp what the underlying issue really is. Sure, we can work out what was intended, but it takes extra time and nobody should have to decode it. Whether someone is using a GUI or just writing, they ought to take care when putting their thoughts across.

1. The cap of 5 pinned servers applies only to the default folder(s)... custom folders you create on a free account have no such cap

2. Every server goes into a custom folder of mine, and I take it out of the All folder

3. I mute every server, after which I unmute the Announcement channel for each one. Occasionally I also unmute its fellow-travelers and semi-vetted Group Buys channel.

4. As a matter of routine, I open my Group Buys folder, go through each server's Announcements, and then switch to the All folder to clear out all unread messages
Appreciate you posting this! I'm going to give it a try — it may finally make TG tolerable to use.

What I'd really love from telegram is a way to make it tally only the messages from channels I actually want, or mute the rest, so the count shown would reflect just those channels. That way I could simply keep up with announcements and similar things, and using it would be far simpler. Right now I've got sub folders set up for test groups, test communities, "main", bots, GBs, and vendors. Anything I figure isn't useful at the moment gets archived too, and I look at those far less frequently.

This was really useful! Thank you.
