Jano has been hacked: https://leak.janoshik.com/

It seems that contact details and order records were compromised. According to Jano, there is probably no legal consequence for customers, though they warn that scammers might attempt to go after individuals whose information appeared in the breach.

Noticed this was shared in a different thread, but thought it warranted a separate post.

Nearly every supplier on this board — ⚠️Data Mining Site, stg, meso — is dealing with scammers, and it has even reached the level of Discord pages being taken over. My guess is AI plays some part in that.... Sarah Connor gave us fair warning, but nooooo.....

Skynet has arrived, and its plan is to pester us to death with negative parallelisms, endless unhinged LinkedIn rants telling you to think business and park yourself on the floor while you neglect your children, plus flogging every bit of our data to scammers. Honestly, in certain respects, the nukes would have been the better option.

That's exactly why you're our favorite, bestie....

The mail landed for me as well.

A relief that I never put my real details on anything I sent him

Aavant said they've stopped taking Jano reports and won't be sending samples their way anymore. It's always the same story with companies: "We patched the intrusion entrance, and hardened security." Why wasn't that done from the start? Your InfoSec is awful.

Wishing Aavant the best. Let's hope they steer clear of paper mills such as BT Labs, or even worse options like AFI. Beyond that, I'd want to know from these US labs: what security measures do they have in place, and what volume of data are they retaining for the DEA?

Yeah, any outfit that doesn't go through Jano would be tough for me to view as credible.

Did I miss something — since when does the dea have jurisdiction in the Czech Republic?

Exactly—the DEA has no authority over there. Because of that lack of jurisdiction, Janoshik is free to disregard any requests coming from the DEA.

Is it possible that the breach was orchestrated by regulators, who want to collect all vendor and buyer details in their database so they can come down even harder on peptides later?

Honestly, that's my suspicion about Fuckrocks. Seeing Naval Ravikant listed as a backer made an impression on me, but after looking deeper, it's basically a directory of identified vendors (with poor testing metrics) that regulators can pursue individually, or that border authorities can use to intercept every shipment from company x.

I'm hoping what happened here pushes folks toward using a wider range of testing labs.

It's always struck me as somewhat strange that basically the whole research community chose to place almost every egg in one basket. Other trustworthy labs do exist.

I keep asking myself what earned Jano the “GOLD STANDARD” label. Perhaps I simply haven’t searched the right threads yet, but aside from Hospira BAC, all I ever come across is the phrase “GOLD STANDARD” with nothing behind it. Maybe operating overseas and being hard to look into plays a role.

When a vendor insists on “Jano only,” it makes me lift an eyebrow. Not a lot. Just curious.

I can sort of understand why the VC backed option isn’t the best choice.

Janihsk has faced the substantive problems, and whenever problems arose they handled them well enough. They have also performed best in direct comparisons with ihrwt labs regarding blind peptide identification. Other US labs have encountered different problems such as: not identifying peptides or providing accurate mass, vague testing methods, delayed result turnaround, rendering poor test results unverifiable, and so on.
