Hello all, I've joined so I can pick up knowledge from those with more experience and figure out where I'm going wrong.

Previously I used mj, and after an initial 10kg loss things plateaued. My weight didn't budge for 8 months. I stopped at Xmas, and between then and April I regained 6kg.

In April I began reta at a low dose and saw no loss at all. I've gradually increased and am now on 8mg, yet still nothing has come off.

I'm trying to work out why my body isn't reacting to glp the way it does for other people, and what I can do to change that.

I'm 46 yrs old and not using hrt, because I'm afraid it will cause me to gain weight. I'd really like to hear from anyone whose experiences are similar, and how they got past it!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

You're taking 8mg of Retatrutide weekly and noticing nothing at all?

That points to either you being a low responder, or it's worth checking a different supplier for your Reta.

Correct, I've felt nothing whatsoever — a bit of appetite reduction, but nowhere near what triz gave me. So I'll likely move to a different 2”wholesale supplier. The thing is, I'm unsure what to make of it, because as I mentioned, mj came from a pharmacy and I only dropped weight at the start before it all halted, so perhaps the issue lies with my body. Today I began keto, hoping to find out whether insulin resistance is involved and whether lowering carbs gets things moving.

By wholesale supplier, are you referring to China grey "dear & honey", or to prefilled pens sold through a UK website? Based on what I've come across, the latter tends to produce mixed results at best, and frequently rather disappointing ones. That said, it doesn't mean the former should be accepted without question either.

Tirzepatide was clearly doing something for you, so what's stopping you from going back on it? It's actually less expensive than Retatrutide (grey).

Do calories in versus calories out matter? How active are you? Are you keeping track of steps? Doing any resistance training? Every one of those things will heavily influence the #'s you're after. Pinning and hoping can shed pounds for just about anyone, but for the long haul and maintenance, the groundwork has to be there. Welcome!!

Really? For 6 weeks I've been doing strength work 4/5 days each week, and on 5 days I hit 10k steps or beyond, while the other 2 days land around 7-8k. My intake has sat at 1400-1600 daily, which by my own stats should put me in a deficit. To be honest, even at 8mg I'm barely feeling any suporession, so I suspect the supplier is the problem.

China grey dear honey. This batch wasn't purchased by me, so I had doubts about the supplier, though my friend said they had verified it was fine. After that I looked into it on my own, and their janoshirk testing certs didn't match up on the jano website, which instantly raised a red flag. I've located a different supplier through the jano website, so I'm hoping things go a bit better this time. Will defo begin at a lower dose than 8mg though. Yeah I will go bk to triz if this doesn't work, but with triz I actually didn't eat much at all and the side effects of that were awful, exhausted, hair falling out, muscle loss

Hello and thanks for the welcome.. I am also just starting out here, though the amount of material to take in is huge, and from what I can see plenty of people are willing to help and pass along what they know.

A few of us fall into the low responder category, and I count myself among them. Perhaps all that's needed in your case is a gradual bump in dosage. Hearing about folks getting massive results from tiny doses genuinely astonishes me — and yes, I feel envious. When it comes to suppression, Reta doesn't deliver much for me, yet it appears to quiet the food noise. Tirz leaves me with less appetite.

Shedding weight and then maintaining that loss is a marathon, not a sprint. The only path is to try things out, remain patient, and stay consistent. There's no GLP that works as pure magic.

Wishing you the best!

Things containing "honey" are likely not a problem. The best approach is to raise your dose gradually at a safe rate, then hold at that level once it starts working for you. You want to remain on the smallest dose that does the job, and only increase it after your appetite suppression begins to fade.

About what you went through with Tirz: while using a GLP-1, putting real attention on your diet and making sure your body gets everything it requires matters a great deal. Simply cutting down how much you eat will lead to results you won't be happy with.

Welcome. Based on what I've seen, you aren't a non-responder — it's just that people with diabetes tend to experience more of the weight loss effect. Doing the work alongside the medication is going to matter a great deal.

There are those for whom simply eating less of the same foods does the trick. Then there are others who need to change what they eat, not merely reduce portions. And tracking everything is likely necessary.

If you look at the trials, with tirz you'll find insulin sensitivity gets better even when no weight is lost. I haven't come across anything about reta, since tirz is working incredibly well for me.

I keep asking myself whether insulin resistance might be the reason the scale won't move for me! My thinking is that the med stops me gaining, since as you put it, it does a better job of managing insulin, but I'm still hitting my system with sugar and carbs daily, so it never gets the break it needs to actually burn fat. Bloodwork all came back normal, although that was checking for diabetes rather than IR. I'm back from my holidays on Thursday, so I began keto on Friday once I was home, and I'll find out whether removing sugar and carbs makes a difference alongside it. On Tuesday I injected 8mg and then another 4mg on Saturday, so at that level I ought to have felt awful at the very least. No side effects at all. I'm still hungry as well. So the batch is clearly rubbish

I feel the same way.., I’m giving Reta a go but suspect it could be a dud… Being menopausal plus having PCOS means insulin resistance is definitely a problem in my case. I don’t know what counts as a “normal” dose of Reta, but I definitely also feel envious of people who drop lots of weight with it

How much are you taking?

Female, 46, perimenopausal.

My TDEE comes out around 1600. I'd bet yours lands near the same figure, which means a daily intake of 1400-1600 calories won't move the scale much. Yeah, it's rough.

Get the loseit app, choose sedentary, and don't add back what you burn through exercise.

You've already spent a while on glps, but titrating upward may be necessary before 1200 calories a day stops feeling miserable.

I stack tirz and reta. Thursday is 7.5 tirz, Sunday is 2 reta.

Could it be insulin resistance? I've put other people on Reta and they drop weight without exercising or altering what they eat. Watching that was maddening at times lol. I began Reta in December at 206lbs, and around July 17th I was 191lbs. I'm exercising and eating better than before. I knew inches were coming off. Nothing in my labs gave me a clear culprit. I began taking supplements as though I were insulin resistant and read the glucose goddess book. On July 27th, I'm 186lbs. The hacks in the glucose goddess book (her instagram is good too) apply to people with and without diabetes. I'd suggest exploring whether insulin resistance might be your issue and start addressing it.

Reta has me at 5mg

What really strikes me is how much variation there is in 1) the way individuals react to GLP1s and 2) both how many side effects appear and how bad they get. I feel fortunate: my own response looks fairly typical, with weight coming off at a sensible pace, and I've basically never had any side effects while using semaglutide and tirzepatide. Hope that keeps up.

Hello from someone else who's just starting out. My spouse is in the later stages of peri and took her first reta shot 7 days ago. Dose number 2 went in today. She stays away from social platforms and message boards, so I'll probably post how she's doing as well as my own. Looking forward to seeing where this takes you.

Reta was a bust for me too. Did you ever reach the max dose while on MJ? And has sema been on your radar? My closest friend got nothing from tirz either, yet sema delivered for her. Maybe that’s worth exploring? That said, none of these are magic — if I’m not doing my part, the scale doesn’t budge. Are you still exercising? Protein is where I hit a wall. Meat isn’t really my thing, and every protein drink, shake, or “juice” makes me want to hurl, so hitting my protein target is a constant battle. It’s 2026 — how have we not figured out how to stick it in a capsule yet 😂
