Hey everyone,
An intro post before diving into the rest of the forum. Honesty is the aim rather than just checking a box.
The basics
Getting the weight off is the goal, and so is learning from people who've actually done it. That's really it. What stood out after a week of reading posts here is how open everyone is about the real stuff. The side effects, the plateaus, the mindset shifts, the "what do I eat now" moments. That's a group I want in on. Your experiences are what I want to learn from, and in time share mine as I go.
My history with weight
The fat kid is my first real memory of myself, going back to 6th grade. What followed was a long cycle of ups and downs. Some lost, some regained, some lost again. Harder every single time. Bouncebacks grow bigger, losses come slower, and willpower runs out faster. That cycle has worn me out. Losing the weight isn't the only goal this time, it's cutting it down and keeping it off for good.
The usual stuff has all been tried over the years. Eating less, gym phases, the whole "this time I'll just be more disciplined" routine. A few weeks of working and then real life happens. ADHD doesn't help. Knocking down some of the constant food noise is what I hope a GLP-1 does, so my better choices actually have a chance to stick.
Urgency exists on my end too, and more of it than usual. Blood pressure meds are part of my day (160mg daily), and my wife and I are trying for a baby. Which makes getting healthier a "now" thing rather than a "someday" one.
Food is something I love too. A Gozney pizza oven sits in my kitchen and I take it seriously. Giving that up isn't the plan, just building a life where it fits without wrecking me.
What I'm hoping to learn
reta is only just getting started for me. More details land in my next post once this one is up. Happy to be here and to learn from people who've been at this longer than me. Thanks for the warm welcome in advance.

What I'm hoping to learn
- Side effects and how people manage them, especially in the first few weeks
- Social eating, family meals, holidays — how you handle them
- Titrating up: when and how people decided
- Honest stories. The stuff that worked and the stuff that didn't
- And most importantly, how people keep the weight off long-term, not just lose it
