Greetings
42 year old male from NJ/FL. I have been overweight for virtually my entire life, peaking at 270lbs and but typically between 220-230 for the past 12 years. Have had major depressive episode, panic and anxiety disorder, substance abuse disorder, ADHD. I have always had physically demanded jobs that require me to be on my feet most of the day. This helped only when I would push myself on a ketogenic diet (the only way I ever lost weight). I trained for a marathon 3 years ago and tore my meniscus in my right leg. I was down to nearly 190lbs and looked amazing. After that, severe depression, awful coping mechanisms and a long term relationship break up.
Food has ALWAYS been a major coping mechanisms for me. I would have to restrict my eating to a short window in the evenings to maintain a reasonable caloric intake. During those periods I could easily consume a days with of calories. The kicker is that I would wake up in the middle of the night like a gremlin and eat pure junk; is easy, satisfying and THERE. As a result, sleep was just awful and I would have no energy throughout the day.
I also have hypothyroidism so I take 50 mcg of Levothyroxine daily. My other daily med is 5mg of Lexapro but I am slowly weening off, SSRIs just do not help me enough for the side effects.
I had blood on done 6 months ago and my A1C was creeping up to the prediabetic level.
I have had enough of this lifestyle a few weeks ago. I had been terrified of taking anything by injections because of a phobia of needles and having an air embolism or something worse (I now know this is unlikely if not impossible with subq). Started doing my research, found the 5 best peptides for "beginners", researched even more and finally pulled the trigger two weeks ago.
I have been exercising consistently for two months and started to clean up my diet prior to this.
Currently taking reta, MOTS-c, dsip and bpc+TB. My initial focus is on body recomp, energy, ligament repair and healthy sleep.
Since I began last week I have noticed a pretty dramatic shift on the way I think about food. I no longer eat just to eat, only have clean protein, fibrous veggies, a few carbs, berries and will supplement with whey throughout the day.
I am absolutely shocked at how much of my brain power was consumed thinking about food and other coping mechanisms. My cravings for sugar and fat are gone. Additionally, my cravings for alcohol, THC, social media, TV have almost been eliminated. I, like so many others, wish I had found GLPs earlier in my life but there's nothing I can do about that now.
I do see a therapist weekly and will have blood work done on Thursday for a previously scheduled appointment with my GP on Monday. Does anyone have any recommendations on how you can safely share this with your DR without the inevitable condemnation that these are for "research purposes only"?
