Greetings
My age is 42 and NJ/FL is where I'm from. Overweight has been my state for virtually my entire life, peaking at 270lbs and but typically between 220-230 for the past 12 years. Major depressive episode, panic and anxiety disorder, substance abuse disorder and ADHD - all of those are in my history. Jobs with physical demands have always been what I do, meaning I'm on my feet most of the day. Pushing myself on a ketogenic diet was the only time that paid off (nothing else ever took weight off me). A marathon was what I trained for 3 years ago, and a torn meniscus in my right leg was the outcome. Nearly 190lbs was where I got to and I looked amazing. Severe depression, awful coping mechanisms and a long term relationship break up came after that.
One of my main coping mechanisms has ALWAYS been food. A short window in the evenings was the only time I'd let myself eat, keeping caloric intake reasonable. Easily a day's worth of calories was what I could consume during those periods. Waking up in the middle of the night like a gremlin and eating pure junk is the kicker; is easy, satisfying and THERE. Sleep ended up just awful as a result, with no energy at all throughout the day.
Hypothyroidism is another thing I have, so daily Levothyroxine at 50 mcg is what I take. 5mg of Lexapro is my other daily med, but a slow weaning off is underway - SSRIs simply do not help me enough for the side effects.
An A1C creeping up to the prediabetic level is what the blood work from 6 months ago showed.
Having had enough of this lifestyle was where I landed a few weeks ago. Terrified of taking anything by injections is what I had been, because of a needle phobia and the idea of an air embolism or something worse (with subq, I now know this is unlikely if not impossible). My research started there, the 5 best peptides for "beginners" were found, even more research happened and the trigger was finally pulled two weeks ago.
Two months of consistent exercise are behind me, and my diet had started getting cleaned up prior to this.
On my list right now: reta, MOTS-c, dsip and bpc+TB. Body recomp, energy, ligament repair and healthy sleep are where my initial focus sits.
Since I began last week, a pretty dramatic shift in the way I think about food has shown up. Eating just to eat is over, only clean protein, fibrous veggies, a few carbs, berries, with whey supplemented throughout the day.
Shocked is the only word for how much of my brain power was being consumed by thinking about food and other coping mechanisms. Sugar and fat cravings have gone. On top of that, cravings for alcohol, THC, social media, TV have almost been eliminated. I, like so many others, wish I had found GLPs earlier in my life but there's nothing I can do about that now.
Therapy happens weekly for me, and on Thursday blood work will be done for a previously scheduled appointment with my GP on Monday. Safe ways of sharing this with your DR, without the inevitable condemnation that these are for "research purposes only" - does anyone have any recommendations?
