Hey all,

D here — 44, male, Hertfordshire. I've been riding the skinny→fat→skinny→...eh, let's just end on fat rollercoaster for a long time now.

Running and lifting are both in my history (some runs planned, others motivated by terrifying strangers), and keto has been part of my life for roughly 9 years.

Keto and I have reached an arrangement: no carbs go in, and my brain gets to operate as though a starving, cake-obsessed tyrant isn't at the controls.

On the plus side, when I do binge it's a low-carb disaster — which I can frame as a technical victory, even if underneath it still stings.

11 months back we had a baby. Wonderful, obviously. But it turns out that sleep deprivation, shattered routines and tiny-human admin do not belong to any effective fat-loss protocol.

I keep turning up at the gym regardless, yet my weight has apparently declared independence and stopped accepting instructions from me.

I'm well aware that my weight swings are definitely linked to how much I consume during a binge — volume absolutely matters — but hormones seem to hit me hard too. Even with fairly steady intake, how I'm feeling can move the number on the scale. Right now sleep, stress and the general chaos of baby life appear to be wrecking that balance.

On top of that, my ADHD is fairly severe, which has made digging into GLP's both captivating and mentally exhausting.

So here I am: permanently stuck in analysis paralysis, needing the forum's help to get unstuck.

Currently I'm looking into whether to start Reta, and attempting to sort real information from internet noise.

oh, and one more thing... marketing is my job, so trusting anything I read online doesn't come naturally, and my conspiracy-leaning brain did briefly wonder whether this forum was actually run by Chinese factory super bosses wanting to control the narrative and target a community of ripe, low-confidencers.

After a fellow Redditor gave me some advice, I'm now (mostly) convinced that isn't the situation, and honestly I'm quite impressed by the support visible here. The community seems genuinely helpful and I'm glad I found it.

My plan: learn, ask probably far too many questions, and hopefully make smarter choices than I've managed before.

Glad to be here and looking forward to learning from you all.

Man! That ADHD-driven hyperfixation research vortex is no joke! I notice your marketing background and I'll see it with a B.S. in Clinical Research. Sadly, my degree has never been put to use in any lab setting, so beyond being able to read and grasp published studies, it hasn't done me much good. So, do research grade products scare me? 100%. Do I also know that researchers are typically particular about their materials? Yep. So here I am, buried under information, just wanting to shed weight without completely wrecking my health. And an 11 month old? First off, congrats! They're amazing and adorable, but honestly a real handful when it comes to sleep, eating properly, finding time to work out, shower....anyway, good luck on your journey!

Replies like this are the reason I don't feel so isolated in that relentless flood of information that wrecks my head. You hold a B.S in Clinical Research; I bring marketing-fueled paranoia plus a serious caffeine habit.. put us together and we might just about add up to 1 working grown-up.

Thanks for understanding about my tiny, high-maintenance but very cute lifestyle upender. My only hope is that he doesn't end up with his dad's adhd or that binge eating good-time party streak.

Hoping things go well for you too, ideally before the 2 of us somehow end up with honorary peptide PhDs by accident.

Does keto seem to be beneficial for your ADHD? It certainly works for me when it comes to epilepsy, mood and focus, though ADHD isn't something I have.
