Dropping in to say Hi to you guys.

Forums aren't really my thing, so my posting will be sparse if it happens at all. Dig around enough and most questions already have an answer somewhere; what I'm after is learning. As things stand I'm in no position — and have no right — to be ordering this stuff, mixing it and taking it myself, but the learning is what I want.

Where I'm coming from on training, weight loss and glp1...

Dieting and exercise have filled most of my adult years. I switch between disciplines to keep things interesting. Marathons, 100 mile bike rides and weight lifting have all had a run (decent numbers by ordinary standards, not by Internet standards), and jiu jitsu is the passion I only found late, as an adult.

My weight has never settled — down, up, down again. Food and nutrition are areas I know well; some of my gains and losses over the years were deliberate, the biggest being 30-40 lbs, from 200lbs bodyweight down to around 160ish, achieved entirely through knowledge, exercise and controlling what I ate. The trouble is the food noise that arrives with every diet, and it is loud. Whole stretches of a diet get spent watching master chef and other cooking shows. So the moment I heard about glp1s, it naturally had my attention.

Last year I sat at 168lbs, then eating slipped across the summer and winter and 10lbs came back, so I decided to try this out. reta came into my hands in pen form. I did my reading and kept the dosing marginally below what's recommended. Began with 0.5, then stepped up 0.5 again whenever it seemed necessary. Less than 2 months in, 178 has become 164, and from a weight loss standpoint I'm delighted — 2lbs is the most I actually want to shed. Beyond that and it's muscle going. So these days I'm on 2.5mg a week. Cost is the problem, which is why I want to get stuck into everything this forum offers for me.

The maths of losing weight isn't a mystery to me, and I can hold a loss for long stretches. But I'm human: without discipline the fat returns very easily. Long diets are doable, yet grinding your teeth (literally, in my case) through hunger wears you down. reta has been brilliant for exactly that. I can still eat what I want, still enjoy food, still have the odd sweet, cake or chocolate without the whole packet disappearing after. If something off-plan appeals, I can eat it provided the calories fit. And the biggest win of all: when a craving hits, I can say no. No detour to the right towards the shop on the way home for bread or chocolate.

Helping people here with diet, nutrition and the fitness side is something I'd like to do. A lot of my time has gone into recipes built around macros that slot into real diets and actually taste amazing, and into the books I've learned from.

Going by what I read on the forum and on reddit, plenty of people think an injection undoes years of bad habits and bad food decisions within a few weeks. I'd like to walk them through the maths of why slow and steady — 1-2 pounds a week — is the version of this that works beautifully. glp1 is just one tool, there to help with 1 aspect of the process; the right decisions still have to come from you if you want the results.

There are plenty of tools in my toolbox that I'm hoping to bring to this. Hopefully I take as much from the people here as I give.
