Hey there! I'm a female in my 40s who's had enough of carrying extra weight. A doctor's prescription helped me drop some pounds, but then it all came back. Pills leave me feeling awful, so this time I'm giving GLPs a shot. My insurance won't pay for it, so I'm checking out other options. I'm a few weeks into the injections now. Hoping to find support along the way.

What GLPs and what pills have you been on? Good luck to you!! 🙂

Every week I take one reta injection. My starting dose was 0.5. For the past three weeks I've been at 1mg. This Friday, when I do my pin, I plan to raise it to 2mg.

Wishing you success! I'm in a similar situation, though I'm a bit older than you are. The diet pills I was taking caused my heart to race, and I constantly felt extremely wired. (On the bright side, my house was spotless)

Glad you're here—this community is where you'll get both knowledge and encouragement. Nearly everyone around here is dealing with the same circumstances as you. We're all trying to move forward with managing our weight, only to be turned down by private insurance, and paying out of pocket costs way too much. Take some time to look around and read; you'll uncover tons of information and perspective, plus plenty of kind, supportive people who truly get the obstacles you're facing.

That's great! So far, has reta given you any rough side effects?

I also suggest checking out reta. I've personally been using it for several weeks now. Even if it had no effect on losing weight, I'd still use it just for how it curbs my appetite. I really need to cut out the snacking!

Up to now, the side effects have been mild. I experience a sensation of fullness that comes across as somewhat bloated. In addition, roughly 2 days following my injection, I deal with bathroom problems. It happens only that morning, and afterward I'm okay for the remaining time.

I used Qsymia on and off across a few years. I dropped 30 pounds, then stalled and couldn't get past it, and ended up regaining most of that weight. That's why I chose to begin a GLP. Right now I'm 4 weeks in and 5 lbs down. It's slow, but the trend is downward. Previously the only direction was up.

Welcome—your Qsymia reference stood out to me. I dropped 110 pounds, and at this point I've been stuck at a long plateau while using GLP-1 medications. A physician proposed adding Qsymia on top to shed the remaining 30 pounds. At that point I'd weigh 190.

At first, Qsymia did help me. Getting used to it isn't easy, though. I experienced brain fog, fatigue, headaches, a fast heartbeat, and at times I simply couldn't eat. I pushed through all of that. My dose was raised a few times, but progress stopped and I was never able to get below 150 lbs. I kept stopping and starting it, hoping to reset things. On my most recent attempt, the side effects were too much to handle, so I made the decision to give a peptide a try.
