My path here doesn't look like most others. I carried extra weight as a kid, then got it largely under control during my late teens and early 20’s. Weight was always a battle for me, going up and down, though for the bulk of my life I sat in the mildly overweight range. At 49 I became a father for the first time, and between my wife's pregnancy and her postpartum depression struggles, I threw in the towel and ate without restraint. The full version has more to it, but that's the outline.

Now for the unexpected part. Once my daughter was roughly six months old, I realized that sticking around for her long term meant I had to get serious about my health. Without any GLPs, I dropped around 90 lbs of fat and added a solid amount of muscle. I got quite lean and held that for more than a year. (Back then GLPs were only beginning to emerge and getting a weight loss prescription wasn't simple; starting today, I wouldn't think twice about using them.) Something I learned: holding 10% body fat felt no harder for me than holding 30%. Not because 10% came easily, but because holding any weight at all was the hard part. The GLPs have really surfaced the idea of food noise. Hearing that term was eye-opening, and I recognized it as something I'd dealt with my whole life. I'd be planning dinner while still eating lunch, and I never feel full unless I eat well past my limit. I had never understood that this was the actual issue.

So I wanted to find out whether a low dose of Tirzepatide could make my day-to-day life better. Losing body fat isn't a goal for me, in fact I'm working on a lean bulk, but none of this should feel as difficult as it does. So far, I'm enjoying it. I'm still dialing in the right dose to keep side effects minimal while still getting something out of it, but things are smoother. I genuinely feel full after a sensible amount of food, and I'm not constantly checking the clock for my next meal. Combine that with the non-weight health benefits and the near absence of side effects from low dose Tirzepatide, and I believe it makes sense as a general health and quality of life medication.

I've put a lot of time into researching GLPs, peptides, and how to judge who's trustworthy. When I'm permitted to do so, I'll share some of my research and results. This forum has been a big help in sorting all of that out, and I'm eager to give something back.

Nice work getting through the whole recomp, particularly while in your 50s. It makes sense that keeping up with a low dose will end up being something lots of folks do, all the more once oral options hit the market.

Hi everyone!

Well done on your journey! Hearing about the food noise and how you relate to food feels like my own life story. Knowing that others share this experience brings me comfort. My doctor put me on Tirz, and I've now been taking it for two weeks. Technically I'm "only" overweight, but battling every single day to diet and just stay at the same weight was driving me crazy!

Hearing about the idea of food noise for the first time hit me the same way. That there was actually a name for it, and that it had such a grip on me, was hard to wrap my head around. Keeping the weight off is a whole different chapter on its own. My sleeve was almost 3 years ago, and the food noise has gotten so intense that it sent me down this rabbit hole. Thanks for putting any of your research and results out there; not long ago I came across your research results in manuf groups. (Not sure what became of that post, I haven't been able to locate it since). I'm looking forward to whatever else you post and to keeping on learning from this community. Have a good one!
