Howdy from Texas! rarecandy here, chasing lean with Reta and the barbell at the not-too-shabby age of 34.

Health became a serious project for me <1 year ago, beginning with training and nutrition, as I got ready to be a dad and to make the good side of my 30s count. Back in my early 20s I was a dance athlete; then college took me to NYC, where festival/psychedelic arts and music became a passion. Hitting 33 I understood the fun needed a different meaning, so the booze and vaping went and the weights came back.

And for any DDR fans out there, the L-tek dance pads get my highest recommendation. The best cardio substitute going.

I kicked off this fitness run at an absurd 240 lbs (male/6ft tall) and consistent diet plus exercise took 12 pounds off. Then I sat on a plateau for a few months leading into my child's birth, so I figured why not with reta. My trainer, a friend who owns the gym, and his crowd are all on it and were professional bodybuilders - great things were both heard and seen. Well, it's a month in as of this post and nearly 10 pounds have gone, on a deficit diet while doing my best to hold strength training together with a newborn (hard mode).

The gray market is what brought me here; I want to learn more about safety and efficacy, and to meet others riding the reta train too.

Clothes I haven't worn in over 3-4 years fit again now, my festival outfits especially. I feel like myself again.

Nice to be here. Also a major phish fan
