I'm in my 30s and roughly a year into a weight loss journey. Starting near 210lbs, I've come down into the high 170s. At first the goal was just dropping pounds, but as things moved along I got more curious about body composition, holding onto muscle, and the science underneath all of it.

For the past few months I've been running retatrutide, which helped take me from 198lb into the 170s, and it's been an interesting ride. One takeaway: shedding weight and getting in shape aren't automatically the same thing. These days I'm putting more emphasis on resistance training, nutrition, recovery, and settling into a routine I can sustain.

What led me here is my wallet asking what makes more sense now that I've looked into other things that could support my fitness path alongside retatrutide. After digging and asking questions, I ended up here, and I know there's plenty more reading ahead. I'm eager to learn the ropes and pick up from others' experience, hoping this turns out to be a safe alternative. I've got a lot of questions and some risk/reward to weigh. Mostly I want to see whether I can learn to tell things apart and make the right pick when the time comes, keeping a cool head about it.

Glad to be part of the community, to learn a few things, and hopefully give something back along the way!

Welcome. I'm in a somewhat comparable spot. I dropped a lot of weight (140 lbs), possibly a bit more than I should have, since I wasn't strength training and lost a fair amount of muscle along the way. These days I'm working on recomp. My body and joints feel good at my current weight, so I don't want to put a ton back on, but I am trying to build muscle.

Hello, and well done on losing the weight!
Thanks! I still need to shed some body fat while keeping the muscle I've got 😅 but overall it's been a great experience

What I've picked up along the way is that patience matters most. This is basically a weight cut, and a long stretch in a calorie deficit is something your body will notice. Gaining muscle while in a deficit is not going to happen easily; I gave it a try and just wound up worn out. On reta, my approach is to use the time to cement solid eating habits, set my macros, and lay a foundation, hoping that what's left gives me a chiseled look. Once I come off reta entirely (low dose), I can always bulk then.

That said, I don't know your height, but 140lb seems low, so have a gameplan for your end goal. The 170s aren't my ideal weight, but my aim is to shred body fat, so here I am, dosing low and slow so the scale doesn't drop faster than I can keep up with.

Edit: you lost 140lbs, nevermind! Congrats!! that's life changing

Seriously, though. I went through the vendor section to get a sense of what I'll eventually be dealing with, and yeah 😅

In my 30s and have been on a weight loss journey for about a year now. I started around 210lbs and have worked my way down to the high 170s. My initial focus was simply losing weight, but as I've progressed, I've become more interested in improving my overall body composition, preserving muscle, and understanding the science behind it all.

I've been using retatrutide for the past few months, helped go from 198lb to 170's and it's been an interesting experience. One thing I've learned is that losing weight and getting into shape aren't necessarily the same thing. I'm now focusing more on resistance training, nutrition, recovery, and building a sustainable routine.

What brought me here is my wallet wondering what's more convenient now that I have researched other things that can aid my fitness journey along with retatrutide. After research and questions, I find myself here and I am aware there is more reading to do ahead of me. Looking forward to learning the ropes and learn from others experience in hopes this becomes a safe alternative. I have a lot of questions and some risk/reward to balance. Mainly aiming to see if I can learn to discern and make the right selection when the moment comes, all with a cool head.

Looking forward to being part of the community, learning a few things, and hopefully contributing along the way!
