Hello from Northeastern PA (NEPA) in the USA!

Age-wise I'm 58. My gastric bypass was in 2001. At my heaviest I was 420lbs, and within 2 years I got down to 198lbs. Then across 25yrs the weight crept back up to 290lbs. In March 2025 I began Ozempic, but the side effects hit me hard, so May brought a switch to Zepbound, and after that insurance steered me onto Mounjaro, which is what I take now. For me there's little to no side effects. I'm at 220lbs currently on 12.5mg.

After learning my insurance may stop covering Mounjaro before long, I came across peptides on Reddit. Reddit is also where I found out about plenty of other choices, and not only for weight loss. Following that rabbit hole is what brought me here.

Between my weight loss journey and my age, I've lost a lot of collagen. Getting enough protein and fluids is a constant struggle for me, likely due more to the gastric bypass than to the GLP1. Before this year I never had a skin care routine, and it shows. This year I managed to do my own Botox, and although some things got better, other issues remain, which I'm hoping peptides can help with once I've finished researching.

Was it a sleeve procedure or a roux-en-y? And yes, when you lose that much weight and you're older, loose skin is pretty much a given. I've been lucky and was never severely overweight, but watching skin loosen simply because of aging is still a bit tough. 🙁

RNY. Getting older definitely makes everything harder. Still, I’d choose the extra skin over carrying the pounds any time.
