I’m Spencer, living in St Louis, MO, and in my early 40’s. Throughout my adult years my weight has gone up and down a lot, and as a kid I was very heavy the whole time. Overeating has always been something I’ve battled. Keto was the one diet that ever worked for me; it let me drop a lot of weight fairly quickly, and I felt good while doing it. The downside was how restrictive it felt regarding food choices, and once it turned into too much of a hassle, I stopped. Last year I began semaglutide, but it didn’t work well for me and I disliked how it felt. My hunger seemed unchanged, yet eating left me feeling awful. In May of this year I made the switch to Tirzepatide, and that has brought a fair amount of progress. So far I’m down roughly 30 pounds, though it feels like I’ve hit a plateau. For around a month my weight has barely moved, and my appetite is gradually returning. At 15 mg right now, I’m essentially maxed out, and it no longer seems to help the way it used to. One big plus, though, is that my overall choices have improved a lot, even with my appetite coming back. I usually steer clear of overeating, even late in the week when I know I could get away with it and still feel fine. The shot has helped train my mind toward better decisions, which is great. But as Tirzepatide’s effects fade, I’ve thought about moving to Reta since I hear it’s even more effective. I still have at least a month or so of Tirz left, so I’m waiting and looking into what the next step should be. Maybe a short break from the shot is what I need? I’m here to find out. Anyway, thanks for reading! I’m glad to hear any opinions on this, and happy to talk more with anyone willing to share their experiences. Thank you!

Welcome aboard! Tirzepatide was my starting point too, and after switching to reta I've found that tirz's ability to keep hunger in check works better for me. Figuring out your ideal next step isn't straightforward, though reta looks like a solid option to try. Should blunted hunger be a big help in your case, stacking with cagrillintide could be worth looking into, since reta doesn't suppress appetite quite as strongly as tirzepatide does.

Beyond the injections, what does the rest of your weight loss path involve? Do you work out and keep an eye on macros? At times staying consistent with those is still necessary for the scale to keep moving.

I'm hoping this forum provides the answers you're after!

Hi Spencer, glad you're here! I just joined too.

Our situations overlap somewhat — keto was the one thing that actually worked for me. Sticking with it was the problem, since carbs are my weakness, so yeah, keto ends up being a real pain 😅

Peptides are brand new territory for me as well, so I've got nothing to report from personal use. Still, best of luck to us both!

Thanks! To be honest, cutting carbs is easy for me Monday through Friday, but once the weekend hits it’s a different story — hanging out with friends almost always circles back to food or drinks. Drinks, dinner out, a movie with popcorn and soda — I just can’t resist. It’s simply too much.

I'll need to check out cagrillintide at some point! That's a new one for me.

Things are moving along fine with the rest of my journey. Getting my 200 grams of protein daily is something I manage well, and I keep my intake in the 2000 to 2500 kcals range, which works as a reasonable deficit given my size - 6'4 and 350 at the moment. Weekend drinking is probably my biggest obstacle. It's typically just 1 time per week, but when I do, the amount tends to be fairly large. I guess I ought to cut back, though once I start it's tough to stop. Lifting weights is something I've been getting back into, and that's going nicely.

Have you tried cagrllintide yourself? If you have, would you be willing to share what effects it's had?

Yeah, alcohol might be holding your progress back — I've come across stories where people say cutting out drinking made a real difference.

Personally, cagrillintide isn't something I've experimented with. What I did was move up to a stronger reta dose (right now I'm on 9mg), and at this level the appetite suppression feels like enough for me. If my dose were lower, I'd seriously consider stacking.
