Good evening, all. The breadcrumb trail is what brought me here - and no, I didn't snack on any of it en route.

I'm a 51 y/o man, 5'8" tall and 298lbs. A chubby kid who turned into a fat grown-up. The roller coaster has been my life, with a couple of big dips roughly every 10 years. As an adult, gastric bypass surgery took me all the way down to 158. But I eat efficiently, and I found a way to put most of it back on. The most recent drop, down to 170, came from extended fasting and hard exercise. Then covid arrived and I was working from home for "two weeks to slow the spread" - which stretched to 6 years. The pantry kept calling my name and it all came back.

Honestly, this feels like my one last shot at getting healthy and staying that way before my body packs it in. I'd like to see my children marry, and to meet future grandchildren one day.

A week ago I began grey Reta at .5mg twice per week. My plan is to titrate very slowly so side effects stay manageable. So far, just a few waves of mild nausea, and little else in the way of negative (or positive, for that matter) effects. Hoping results show up by the end of month one.

Thanks to everyone for building this community. I plan to spend plenty of time reading and getting to know you all.

The ups and downs you describe match my own experience exactly. I dropped roughly 130lbs over a few months by crash dieting the way a bariatric program does; then across 10+ years it all came back (though there were several stretches of weight loss along the way). At this point I weigh more than I ever have.

Reta has genuinely turned things around for me. Because I'm no longer purchasing loads of food, whether at the grocery store or when I'm out, I'm putting away a lot of money, and on top of that I feel better each day. All the best to you.

I appreciate you replying. Hearing others speak honestly about what they struggle with matters a great deal. Knowing that others share this road makes a real difference.
