I dropped 60 lbs using GLP1 over the course of 9 months. After that, I switched to Tirzeptide, and during 6 months on 10 mg I only managed to lose 4 pounds even at the maximum dose. So I've chosen to give Reta a shot. My first dose went in this past weekend. Has anyone else hit a plateau, and what did you do to break through it? To reach a healthy BMI, I've still got 30 pounds to go.

Giving a solid answer here isn't straightforward, and the details you've shared so far….

I'd like to offer something useful, but first I need a few more specifics, such as:

Are you doing any resistance training or physical activity?

What's your current body weight?

What's your daily calorie intake?

How much movement or cardio do you get each day?

A stall can happen when you're taking in too few calories, which may push your body to adjust into a kind of "we must operate as efficiently as possible and burn minimal energy" mode. Think of it as a protective response from waaayyyy back when food was hard to come by.

With the info I have, I honestly can't tell what's happening.

That said, dropping a large amount of weight, and doing it in a fairly short window, strikes me as a protective response aiming to be as energy efficient as it can. If that's what's going on, you'd need to eat more or return to your maintenance calorie level — the amount where your weight stays stable — and hold there for a week/ week and a half. That way your body can come out of this mode. Then you can go back to a plan where you're losing weight, but avoid "crash" dieting.

Crash dieting will bring about exactly the issues you're dealing with right now….

Hope this helps a little bit. If you provide more info I can give you more info about your situation!

But welcome to the platform and you're at the right place to find the info you need and ask questions!

Could you tell us a bit more about yourself and what you're planning?

We understand the GLP-1 concept... but there's a lot more involved than just that.

Do you have IR or diabetes? Have you had bloodwork done? Insulin, blood sugar, and so on?

What does your training look like? How do you eat - macros and such?

Regards,

Nick

Friend, before anything else — congratulations. To my mind, attitude counts for more than anything else here. And then, of course, sensible eating and training matter just as much.

Right. Could you share your current diet and workout routine? Even with how effective these medications are, weight loss won't happen unless you're in a calorie deficit.

Addressing a few things: my routine includes 3 weekly sessions combining cardio and weights. My portions had shrunk considerably, yet the hunger blunting no longer matches what it once was. On top of that, a few months back I began experiencing frequent lightheadedness, which led me to increase how much I eat. Junk food is off the table; I have 2 meals daily along with nutritious snacks—low fat sugar free yogurt or a protein bar—taken in the afternoon and before exercising for energy. Diabetes is not a factor for me. Calorie tracking hasn't been something I do, though it might be worth beginning.
