Hi everyone, I'm a 56-year-old man living in Ontario, Canada, right across the border from Detroit. My goal is fairly modest: I'd like to shed roughly 10 pounds. Beyond the number on the scale, what matters most to me is lowering body fat, keeping and adding muscle, having more energy, and protecting my health over the long run.
I have a big herniated disc at L2–L3, which is causing significant narrowing of the spinal canal and compression of nerves. As a result I deal with pain in my back and legs, plus burning and numbness in one foot. On top of that, I have neck and shoulder pain that I think might come from a pinched nerve, and osteoarthritis in my knee. Because of all this, exercising and staying active can be difficult.
What I'm hoping to find out is whether GLP-1 treatment or other peptide therapies might be a good fit in my case. I'd like support in hitting my weight target without losing muscle, and I'd also welcome guidance on whether any of these treatments have evidence behind them for easing my other symptoms. I want to get a clear picture of the pros, the cons, and whether these options make sense for someone with my medical background.
Any input at all would mean a lot to me.
Thanks in advance
