Weight has been an issue for me ever since my late teens. There were stretches when I could drop the carbs, exercise, and keep myself at a decent level of health — but plenty of other times I came out on the losing end. On top of that, I've been sober for 37 years, and I let myself off the hook for overeating by telling myself that at least I wasn't drinking or drugging.

After menopause, nothing worked anymore. I'd white-knuckle it and maybe lose a pound or two..and if I "cheated" I'd gain it all back, plus some.

A close friend of mine who also struggled badly with eating told me about Zepbound in November 2024. The possible side effects worried me a lot. I went slowly and looked into it. I read a lot of success stories on Reddit and talked things over with my doctors. It was on Reddit that I learned about compounded tirzepatide.

I raised my dose very gradually because I was scared of bad side effects. I probably could have gone further faster, but so far I have taken off 34 pounds and lost only .2 pounds of muscle. I feel so much better and I still have probably another 40 or 50 pounds to go.

I'm looking forward to meeting other like-minded people and continuing to learn about how to take better care of myself.

You have been battling this for years, and your words make that clear. I'm a guy from Maine, 55 years old, and I've been running tirzepatide alongside retatrutide, so much of your story feels familiar to me.

The way you spoke honestly about the ups and downs across the years, how sobriety influenced your connection to food, and the thorough research you did before beginning medication — that is genuine effort. Your progress wasn't accidental; you worked for it. Losing 34 pounds while barely losing any muscle is enormous, and the slow, deliberate approach shows how seriously you take your own well-being.

Wanting to find others who understand makes complete sense. This entire road feels far lighter when there are people beside you.

Whenever you'd like to discuss the journey, the mental side, or simply exchange experiences, I'm around.
