Hey everyone,
NYC here, 32 M, sitting at 279 lbs on a 5'10" frame. Gastric bypass back in 2016 — I was roughly 370 lbs and prediabetic going in, dropped as low as 230 lbs and held it reasonably well for a stretch, though the past four years have parked me near 279.
Reta is something my primary care physician recently put me on. The plan is 1 mg/week to begin with and, with my doctor guiding it, a 1 mg bump each month until we land on the dose that suits me.
Diabetes and obesity both run strong in my family, so my hope is that this becomes one more lever for getting healthier and staying that way. My wife, my son and myself are what push me. I want habits that hold up and the energy to keep pace with them for a long time, which counts for a lot at my age.
Away from all that, I play plenty of golf and I am happiest camping.
The reason I am here is to pick things up, swap stories and listen to folks who have been at this longer than me. Looking forward to being part of the community and learning from all of you!
