Hey everyone,

For the last 10 years I've turned to reddit whenever I needed info like this, so joining a forum again feels like a throwback to the old days.

TLDR. I'm 30, have always carried extra weight, and my clinical depression is bad enough that I haven't stepped outside my house in months. A couple months back, I hit 68kg (174cm) for the 2nd time as an adult, but just like the 1st time, at that weight I still looked worse than skinny fat (I was up to 120kg as a teenager, so I'm left with a lot of excess skin and gyno). My BMI claimed I was right in the normal range, yet it definitely didn't appear that way.

Last year in Mexico I only gave tirz a try for a couple shots, and after slacking off for a while I'm now back on it. Once my current stash runs out, I plan to switch over to reta. I also intend to use some other non GLP-1 compounds, peptides and otherwise, but I'm unsure whether it's allowed to talk about them here, so I'll leave out the specifics.

Right now my plan is to drop to a genuinely lean bf% (below 10, which I figure will be about 55-60kg), check how severe the excess skin looks at that level of leanness, and then attempt to build some muscle. At the moment I'm doing a PSMF and trying to fit in some bodyweight training since I'm not in any shape to go to a gym.

I've got some questions, but I'll hold off until I'm no longer restricted so I can post them in the right sections.

Thanks for having me!

Hello! Sorry if you already know all of this. I’m not a physician (I also just made my intro post), but my advice is not to put off muscle building until every pound is gone. Begin recomping while you’re still losing weight, and you’ll benefit in several ways. Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than fat tissue does, so building muscle (or at minimum holding onto what you’ve got) right now will speed up fat loss. Maintaining muscle is also simpler than rebuilding it after it has wasted away. Once Tirz’s appetite suppression takes effect, your body will attempt to defend itself by breaking down muscle mass to lower energy expenditure. Stopping that will be essential for success. Take in no less than 1g of protein for every pound of body weight daily, and do whatever resistance training you can manage, even if it’s only body weight. Keeping your attention on that protein target will automatically cut down on less healthy food choices, and digesting protein itself uses up some energy, so that gives you a little extra assist as well.

Do you have any options for starting a home gym, like a set of dumbbells would even be useful.

Yeah, I realize muscle training is something I should be doing, but whether I can do it hinges on how my mental state is. On top of that, I'm not prepared to consume anything near the amount of protein needed for real muscle growth. My hope is that once I reach a very lean bf, along with some testosterone, building muscle will become possible for me at that point.

Yeah. That loop can be brutally relentless. When mental health strips away the drive to exercise—despite exercise being something that could lift mental health—we skip the workout, which leaves us depressed, which makes us skip the workout again, …. 😫

Welcome aboard, I'm in my 6th week of Reta and also just joined. Like you, I've got a significant amount of weight to shed. From what I've gathered, losing more muscle slows metabolism, while building more muscle speeds it up. That's why I've stuck with strength training plus 10K steps daily, and over two months I've dropped 35lbs.
