Hey everyone, just joined. 26F, 5'8", located in the USA (won't say exactly where). Starting weight 190, current weight 160, goal weight under 145. For 3 years I've been working at losing weight--most of my teen years were spent obese, and I'm trying to undo those harmful patterns.

Prescription Semaglutides worked for me at one point, but the price got to be too much... my insurance refused to pay for them. C'est la vie.

Right now my main struggle is Food Noise--I can handle eating the same meal week after week, sticking to a strict routine, and downing the same ground beef protein bowl daily--but the constant mental chatter of "needing" more or different food wears me out.

That's why I went looking for a cheaper option than my prescription.

Then I found this forum.

After losing myself in tons of threads and putting in many hours of my own research, I chose to try Reta (pun intended), since it appears to be the "it girl" GLP-1.

I've just put in my first Reta order, and I'll share updates as things go.

Looking forward to talking with others who are also on their healing path, and thanks to anyone who read all of this.

We're close in age! The weight you started at is what my BMI is right now. Glad to have you here on the forums!

I'm also a hungry person, and it's the appetite suppression that carries me through. I began Reta a couple of months back and I've lost around 20lbs after roughly 7 weeks on it. At some point I really need to write it down lmao

So reta's appetite suppression actually isn't super strong, but since you're at a more or less healthy weight already you probably won't need it!

The studies on retatrutide started participants at doses of 2mg or 4mg, once every seven days, and titrated them up by either 1mg or 2mg every four weeks. Obviously, the higher doses are more effective. For this reason, I decided to titrate by 2's. I'm happy with this choice, but I suspect I'm hungrier than you, so it might not be neccessary for you.

My first dose was 0.5mg, and within a single week I climbed to 2mg. Side effects hit me right from dose one: a sharper sense of smell, prickling skin, disrupted sleep through the first 3 weeks, and so on. Nothing serious happened though. Once roughly 3 weeks have passed, if things are going well, eating should feel pretty hard. Should eating become too hard and you genuinely can't face another shot, simply add one more day. If you're really fucking hungry, feel free to take your shot early. I did both and neither one killed me.

Take your vitamins! Iron especially, I relied on whey protein for a couple of weeks and didn't get enough iron. And start learning to drink salt water, and starting your day with 1g of potassium. You'll need the electrolytes. Reta also blunts thirst signals.

Because reta has less appetite suppression, I choose to take my dose once every three days. I find this to be incredibly effective and I think taking it once a week is stupid if appetite is a concern for you. There are people who will disagree with me on the basis of the studies being conducted at once weekly doses, or because of the myth that frequent dosing sensitizes receptors. These people are idiots and you should listen to me instead.

Have fun! At this rate, we'll both be in the tiniest bikinis next summer 💅🏻

Edit: One piece of data I almost forgot... Retatrutide's third mechanism, the glucagon axis, is said not to kick in until 6-8mg which is where most people see the bulk of their weight loss. Supposedly it increases TDEE by 100-300 calories. You might not even need or tolerate that much, but it's worth knowing.

Thanks for the information and the warm welcome. And yeah, tiny bikini goals, haha!
