Hello all! Coyote here, out of the New England region of the USA.
Overweight is all I've ever known. Easily over 300lbs was my 20s. Late 30s now, and a change was what I was ready for. sema came along a few years back and 70 pounds came off with it. A job change then forced a break because of insurance, and most of that first loss returned.
Then came the fight with my doctor and the insurance company, and months later tirz was finally approved. Almost 70 pounds went again. Then all coverage of any GLP-1 was stopped by insurance, to my great disappointment. That's the spot I'm in now, desperately trying to keep the weight from returning.
A stress eater and a binge eater is what I've always been, and food made up a big part of my personality. Trying these medications was surreal in the extreme: no longer having food and the next meal at the forefront of my mind 24/7. Nobody I knew could relate, yet for the first time I thought this must be how normal, naturally skinny people feel. Off these meds, the noise returns instantly. How our bodies function is so wild.
Working out has never been my thing either. A hospital is my workplace, so about 10k steps come naturally through the day, but lifting weights or anything serious was never part of it. A month ago, though, a personal trainer was brought in twice a week, with resistance bands and 10-15 pounds weights. Saying my body is sore for the following few days is an understatement.
Anyway, that's a bit about me and my journey. Plenty of learning from everyone else's journey is what I'm hoping for.
-Cheers, all!
